Overview
The Lumitec 112801 is a flush-mount LED down light with a brushed aluminum finish and a two-color output (white with dimming plus blue) for cabins and weather-exposed overhead surfaces. It runs on 10-30V DC systems and is fully sealed to IP67, so it handles moisture and washdowns where standard interior lights fail.
Fit is straightforward in tight headliners and hard tops: it uses a 1.25 inch mounting hole, sits about 0.31 inch proud of the surface, and needs less than 1/2 inch of clearance behind the mounting panel. The face is an exposed lens with a narrow bezel, which helps the beam spread wide instead of looking like a tiny spot.
Control stays simple. Dimming and color changes are handled by toggling a standard on-off switch, so you can add it to an existing lighting circuit without extra modules or specialty switches.
Key features
- Two-color output: white (5000 K) with dimming plus blue.
- Works on 10-30V DC systems; draws up to 0.58A at 12V or 0.32A at 24V.
- IP67 sealed for wet areas and washdowns; not intended for permanent underwater mounting.
- Requires a 1.25 inch mounting hole, with less than 1/2 inch behind-panel clearance and about 0.31 inch above-surface profile.
- Dimming and color selection are controlled from a standard SPST on-off switch by toggling power.
- Hidden fasteners with a narrow bezel and exposed lens for a beam that spreads wide.
- USCG ignition protected for use in gasoline engine spaces.
What’s included
- Flush mount down light assembly
- Mounting plate
- Mounting screws
- Yellow rubber installation tool
Installation and setup
Lay out the cutout using a printed template, then drill the center hole and the mounting screw holes. The mounting plate installs first, then the light body twists into place until it clicks. If the final twist is tight, the included rubber tool gives enough grip to seat it without marring the bezel.
The light may feel warm during operation, which is normal. Avoid mounting it to highly flammable or heat-sensitive materials, and keep it out of locations that stay submerged.
Electrical and switching control
Wire it directly to the vessel’s DC system and protect the circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker. Maximum draw per light is up to 580mA at 12V DC or 320mA at 24V DC, so size protection for the total load when multiple lights share a switch circuit.
This unit is polarity sensitive: connect the black wire to negative (ground) and the white or red wire to the positive feed. It can be controlled by a standard SPST switch. With 2-color dimmed operation, the white output ramps slowly; toggling the switch off and immediately back on locks the brightness. After the dimming stage, a quick off-on toggle changes colors. Leaving power off for about 2 seconds resets the light back to white on the next start.
Use on board
This light is a good match when you want bright overhead white lighting for task work at the helm, in the galley, or in the cabin, plus blue for a low-key nighttime look without changing fixtures. It also works well in protected exterior ceilings and hard tops where spray, condensation, and vibration are part of normal use.
