Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 HD Navigation Chart HXAE004R is a coastal chart for compatible Garmin chartplotters, covering Hong Kong and surrounding waters across the South China Sea on microSD/SD media.
Coverage spans the coasts of the Malay Peninsula, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and China east to Quanzhou, including Hainan Island and Macau, with detailed areas that include Phuket, George Town, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Xiamen.
On the water it gives you the core layers you actually use when piloting in tight places: navigation aids, spot soundings, depth contours, and shading tools that help you keep an eye on your target depth and your shallow-water limit.
Key features
- Chart region HXAE004R for Hong Kong and the South China Sea coastal area.
- MicroSD/SD format for use in chartplotters with a compatible card slot.
- Depth Range Shading with up to 10 depth ranges for quick depth awareness.
- Shallow Water Shading with a user-set depth highlight to make thin water easier to spot.
- Includes common navigation layers such as aids to navigation, spot soundings, and depth contours.
- Available as either a preprogrammed card or a download that is installed to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express.
- BlueChart g3 Vision option adds extra viewing layers such as 3D views and aerial photo coverage where supported.
Variants
This chart is offered in multiple configurations based on BlueChart version and delivery format.
The choice is between BlueChart g3 and BlueChart g3 Vision, and whether you receive a preprogrammed SD card or install the chart to a microSD/SD card via download.
- 010-C0879-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card. This arrives on a card that is inserted into the chartplotter to access the mapping.
- 010-D0330-00: BlueChart g3, Download. This is installed to a microSD/SD card with Garmin Express before the card is used in the chartplotter.
- 010-C0879-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card. This keeps the convenience of a preprogrammed card while adding the extra Vision viewing layers where supported.
- 010-D0366-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download. This is installed to a microSD/SD card with Garmin Express and is intended for compatible devices that support the Vision feature set.
Compatibility and fit
This product is for Garmin marine units that support BlueChart g3 cartography and read mapping from a microSD/SD card slot. BlueChart g3 Vision requires a chartplotter or sounder model that supports the Vision features, so it is worth confirming Vision compatibility if you are choosing one of the Vision variants.
Installation and setup
For the SD card variants, insert the card into the chartplotter and leave it in place while you are using the charts. For download variants, use Garmin Express on a computer to load the chart to a microSD/SD card, then move that card to the chartplotter for normal use.
Because mapping is read from the card, most installs keep one chart per card and treat the card like part of the navigation system, stored and handled the same way you would handle any critical onboard data.
Use on board
This chart is a good match for skippers running the South China Sea coastline who want clear depth and navigation detail for harbor entries, coastal hops, and route planning between major ports in the region.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
