Overview
The Garmin 010-12719-00 is an adapter cable that lets you connect an 8-pin transducer to a Garmin sounder or fishfinder with a 4-pin sonar port.
This is the right piece when the plug on your transducer and the sonar connector on the display do not match. It keeps the transducer lead intact, so you are not cutting, splicing, or re-terminating anything just to make the system talk.
Because this sits in-line, it is usually installed behind the dash, inside the console, or near the display bracket where the transducer cable comes up. Leave enough slack so the connectors are not carrying the cable weight, especially on boats that see pounding or frequent trailering.
Key features
- Converts an 8-pin transducer connection to a 4-pin sonar port without splicing or modifying wiring
- Works with a range of Garmin STRIKER and STRIKER Plus units that use the 4-pin sonar connector
- Keyed connectors help prevent misalignment; plugs seat one way when the pins are lined up correctly
- Inline format keeps the connection serviceable for troubleshooting or future display changes
Compatibility and fit
This adapter is used on Garmin displays that have a 4-pin sonar port, paired with a transducer that has an 8-pin plug. Common compatible units include STRIKER 4, STRIKER 4 Portable Bundle, STRIKER 4cv, STRIKER 5 Ice Fishing Bundle, STRIKER 5cv, STRIKER 5dv, STRIKER 7cv, STRIKER 7dv, STRIKER 7sv, STRIKER Plus 4, STRIKER Plus 4cv, STRIKER Plus 5 Ice Fishing Bundle, STRIKER Plus 5cv, STRIKER Plus 7cv, STRIKER Plus 7sv, and STRIKER Plus 9sv.
Before ordering, confirm two things on your boat: your transducer plug is 8-pin, and the sonar port on the back of the display is 4-pin. Garmin uses several different sonar connectors across model families, and this cable is only for the 8-pin to 4-pin combination.
Installation notes
Keep the connection point in a dry area behind the helm or inside the console rather than low in the bilge. Route the cable away from high-current wiring and ignition components when possible, and avoid tight bends right at the connector backshell.
When connecting, align the keying, push straight in, and fully seat the plug before tightening any locking collar or retaining ring (if present on your connectors). A connection that is not fully seated can show up as intermittent depth readings or a transducer that is not detected.
On-board use cases
This adapter makes sense during refits where an 8-pin transducer is already installed and you are moving to a compact Garmin display that uses a 4-pin sonar port. It is also handy on small center consoles, aluminum fishing boats, and seasonal boats where you want a clean, reversible connection without rewiring the hull.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
