Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 HD is an electronic navigation chart region for Garmin chartplotters, covering Eastern Africa (HXAF001R). Coverage spans the east coast of Africa from the Gulf of Tadjoura to the Bay of Maputo and includes general coverage of the full coast of Madagascar.
This is supplemental cartography that displays on compatible Garmin chartplotters for planning and navigation, with detail such as depth contours, aids to navigation, harbor information, and tidal and current data where available. Depth Range Shading and Shallow Water Shading help you highlight the depths you care about and make shallow areas easier to spot at a glance.
The chart is available either as a preprogrammed microSD/SD card or as a downloadable version, depending on the option selected. The downloadable format is handled through Garmin Express.
Key features
- HXAF001R coverage for Eastern Africa, including general coverage from the Gulf of Tadjoura to the Bay of Maputo and the coast of Madagascar
- Two delivery formats: preprogrammed microSD/SD card or download (format varies by variant)
- Depth Range Shading supports up to 10 depth ranges for quick depth targeting
- Shallow Water Shading can be set to a user-defined depth to make shoals and skinny water stand out
- Detailed contours with up to 1 foot intervals in supported areas for a clearer read on bottom structure
- BlueChart g3 Vision variants add premium chart views and imagery features on supported, compatible chartplotters
Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations so you can match the cartography level and delivery format to your Garmin setup.
Across the range, the differences are the BlueChart version (BlueChart g3 vs BlueChart g3 Vision) and whether you receive it on a preprogrammed card or as a download.
- 010-C0747-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card format. This is the preprogrammed microSD/SD option for chartplotters that read charts from a card slot.
- 010-D0335-00: BlueChart g3, Download format. This option is delivered through Garmin Express and is intended for setups that prefer managing charts by download.
- 010-C0747-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card format. Vision adds extra chart presentation and imagery features where supported by the plotter and the chart region.
- 010-D0372-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download format. This combines the Vision feature set with delivery through Garmin Express for download-based installs.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your Garmin chartplotter supports BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision before ordering, since cartography support varies by model and generation. For SD card variants, the display must have a compatible microSD/SD card slot. Some newer Garmin chartplotters with built-in Garmin Navionics+ mapping do not accept BlueChart g3 cards, so it is worth checking your unit’s supported chart products before checkout.
Installation and setup
For SD card formats, insert the card into the chartplotter’s card slot and select the chart source on the plotter as needed. For download formats, use Garmin Express on a computer to download the region and follow the prompts to transfer it for use with your compatible Garmin marine display.
How it’s used on board
This chart is a good match for boats running coastal passages, fishing, or port-to-port navigation along Eastern Africa where having local depth detail, harbor information, and configurable depth shading helps with day-to-day decision making. It is also useful when you want one region card or download that stays with the boat’s Garmin display for planning and navigation in the same cruising area.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
