Compatibility and fit
This bracket is intended for GPSMAP 5xx units listed above and the GXM 31. If your display is outside the GPSMAP 500 Series, check the model number on the front bezel or the system information page and match it to the supported list before ordering.
Plan the mounting spot so the unit can rotate without hitting a windshield frame, grab rail, or nearby switches. Also leave room behind the unit for cable bend radius and for accessing connectors during service.
Installation and setup
Mount the base on a flat surface that stays rigid when the boat is running. On thin fiberglass or plastic panels, a backing plate or large washers help spread the load and keep the mount from working loose over time.
Seal any new screw penetrations in the console to keep water out of the core, and route power and transducer cables so they do not chafe when the unit is rotated. A gentle service loop behind the display usually makes adjustments and maintenance easier.
