Overview
The TACO Marine GS-170 is a pair of Grand Slam 170 top mount outrigger bases for 1-1/8" outrigger poles on smaller offshore fishing boats. It is built for boats 24' and under and works with TACO Marine 1-1/8" Tele-Outrigger Poles, giving center console and T-top boats a practical way to add up to 30' of fishing spread.
Each mount uses a brushed anodized aluminum body with a polished 316 stainless steel arm assembly, a combination that suits exposed tops where salt spray, sun, and vibration are part of normal use. The 4" x 6" mounting base is made for outrigger-ready mounting plates, with a top mount layout that keeps the poles accessible from below the hardtop or T-top.
The Sure-Grip knob adjusts lift in 18 degree increments, while the locking lever secures outbound rotation at the selected position. Delrin bearings help the mount move smoothly during setup, laydown, trailering, and bridge clearance.

Compatibility and fit
This mount is intended for top mounted outrigger installations using compatible 1-1/8" poles. It is a good match for smaller fishing boats where the crew needs a wider trolling spread without stepping up to a larger outrigger base system. Before installation, the top or hardtop structure should be checked for proper reinforcement, backing, and access from below.
The mount is commonly used with TACO Marine outrigger-ready mounting plates. Its laydown function is useful when trailering the boat, clearing bridges, or lowering poles while docking and storing the vessel.
Installation and setup
The bolt-on mounting style keeps installation straightforward when the boat already has compatible outrigger-ready plates. Care should be taken to align both bases evenly, seal all penetrations properly, and use the correct backing support for the top material. On saltwater boats, isolating mixed metals and rinsing the assemblies after use will help preserve the finish and moving parts.
Use on board
For offshore trolling, the GS-170 helps spread lines away from the wake and prop wash so baits can run cleaner. The below-top adjustment makes it practical for a helm-area operator to adjust elevation and rotation without climbing onto the hardtop, which is useful during active fishing, trailering, or a quick return to the dock.
