Overview
The TACO Marine GS-800-1 is a Grand Slam 800 VHF antenna mount for raising and lowering a boat VHF antenna from below the hardtop or T-top. It gives the operator deck-level control of the antenna angle, which helps avoid climbing onto gunnels or hardtop structure when lowering the antenna for bridges, storage, trailering, or docking under cover.
This mount accepts standard 1"-14 male-thread VHF antenna shafts and mounts through hardtops up to 2" thick. The body is machined and anodized aluminum with a light brushed finish, and the crank handle is polished Type-316L stainless steel.
For boats that run offshore, fish hard, or spend time in saltwater, the practical value is simple: the antenna can be moved when needed without turning a routine adjustment into an awkward climb. The IP66 water-resistance rating, sealed piston, Delrin bearings, and roller bearings in the crank assembly help the mechanism handle normal spray, washdowns, and vibration on board.
Key features
- Raises and lowers a VHF antenna from below the top, reducing the need to climb on T-tops or gunnels.
- Accepts standard 1"-14 male-thread shafts used with standard VHF antennas.
- Mounts through hardtops up to 2" thick for use on many center consoles, pilothouse tops, and hardtop installations.
- Machined and anodized aluminum body with a light brushed finish for a clean helm-area appearance.
- Polished Type-316L stainless steel crank handle folds and locks flush into the base when not in use.
- Threaded shaft supports controlled lift and descent instead of a loose manual swing.
- Delrin bearings and roller bearings in the crank assembly help the mount operate smoothly.
- IP66 water-resistance rating with a sealed piston for exposed marine mounting locations.
- Compatible with the WP-800-900 6º wedge plate, sold separately, when the mounting angle needs correction.
- Made in the USA and backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
Installation and fit
The mount is intended for hardtop or T-top installation where the crank can be reached from below. Before cutting or drilling, confirm the top thickness, check the underside for clearance, and make sure the crank handle has enough room to fold flush into the base.
The included round backing plate helps spread load under the mounting surface, but mounting hardware is not included. Fasteners should be selected for the top material, backing structure, and exposure to saltwater, with proper sealing around penetrations to keep water out of the hardtop core.
Use on board
This mount is a strong fit for center consoles, offshore fishing boats, and cruising boats where the VHF antenna sits on a hardtop and needs to be lowered regularly. It is especially useful around bridges, rack storage, trailering, covered slips, and service areas where antenna height changes often.
The flush-locking crank keeps the handle out of the way when the antenna is set, which is helpful in tight helm overhead areas. The manual crank layout also keeps the antenna adjustment simple, with no electrical wiring or switches needed for the lift mechanism.
What’s included

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
