Overview
The Garmin CCU Extension Cable is an extension cable that lets you mount the autopilot Course Computer (CCU or Reactor) farther from the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) than the standard 3 m (9.8 ft) interconnect.
It comes in 5 m (16.4 ft), 15 m (49.2 ft), and 25 m (82.0 ft) lengths for routing through consoles, bulkheads, and cable chases while keeping the CCU location flexible.
Threaded-collar connectors help keep the connection seated after the collar is hand-tightened, which matters when the boat sees vibration and regular washdowns.
Key features
- Extends the CCU or Reactor connection beyond the typical 3 m (9.8 ft) run from the ECU
- Available lengths: 5 m (16.4 ft), 15 m (49.2 ft), and 25 m (82.0 ft)
- Threaded-collar connectors that lock in place with a hand-tightened collar
- Used on Garmin GHP 12, GHP 20, and Reactor or Reactor 40 autopilot systems as the ECU-to-CCU or Reactor extension
Variants
This cable is offered in multiple lengths to match different boat layouts.
The difference between variants is cable length, which is typically determined by the planned routing path between the ECU and the CCU or Reactor, including service loops and strain relief.
- 010-11156-30: Length 5 m. Suits compact installations where the ECU and CCU can be mounted relatively close together.
- 010-11156-31: Length 15 m. Covers mid-size runs that pass through a console, hardtop, or helm to a machinery space.
- 010-11156-32: Length 25 m. Intended for long routing on larger vessels or layouts with extended cable chases.
Compatibility and fit
This is the ECU-to-CCU extension cable used on Garmin GHP 12 and GHP 20 autopilot systems, and on Reactor and Reactor 40 autopilot systems. It installs in-line between the system interconnect cable and the CCU or Reactor.
For best fit, confirm your autopilot system family and the connector style before ordering so the extension mates cleanly with your existing harness.
Installation and routing
Plan the route before pulling the cable. Keep the run supported so it cannot chafe on fiberglass edges, avoid tight bends, and route away from high-heat zones in engine rooms.
Thread the collars by hand until snug, then secure the cable near each connector to reduce strain. Leave enough slack for service access to the CCU and ECU without tugging on the connectors.
On-board use
A good match for autopilot installs where the ECU is mounted near the steering pump or actuator while the CCU needs to sit farther away, such as closer to the boat's centerline or in a location with less vibration.
It also helps during refits when existing cable chases dictate a longer run than the standard interconnect allows.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
