Overview
The Victron Energy ASS030550320 is a VE.Direct non-inverting remote on-off cable for remote control of compatible Victron BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT solar charge controllers. It lets an external control signal switch the charger on or off, which is especially useful in boat solar systems where charging needs to follow a BMS, system switch, or battery protection logic.
The cable enables the charger when the control signal is high. It disables the charger when the signal is pulled low or left free floating. Its input range supports up to 70V, with switch-on at approximately 6V and switch-off below 1V or when the input is left open.
On a marine installation, this is a practical way to bring Victron MPPT solar charging into the vessel’s wider DC control scheme without adding a separate manual switching routine at the charger. It is most relevant on systems where the MPPT uses the VE.Direct port for remote on-off control rather than a built-in Remote on/off terminal.
Key features
- Allows external on-off control of compatible Victron BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controllers through the VE.Direct interface.
- Works with non-inverting control logic, so the charger turns on when the source signal is high.
- Switches the charger off when the control input is below 1V or left free floating, which supports BMS-controlled charge disconnect setups.
- Accepts control input up to 70V, with switch-on at approximately 6V.
- Useful for marine solar systems that need charging to follow a VE.Bus BMS, smallBMS, or a dedicated system control signal.
Installation and setup
The cable connects to the solar charger’s VE.Direct port and uses the external control signal to determine whether the MPPT is allowed to charge. When fitted, the VE.Direct port is dedicated to this remote on-off function and cannot also be used for a GX device or a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle on the same charger.
Some MPPT models with a load output, including 75/10, 75/15, 100/15, and 100/20 models, require the RX port function to be changed in VictronConnect. Other compatible models use the VE.Direct RX pin for remote on-off by default, so no setting change is normally needed.
Compatibility and system notes
This cable is for Victron BlueSolar and SmartSolar MPPT charge controller models that use VE.Direct for remote control. Larger SmartSolar models may already have an onboard Remote on/off terminal, so the vessel’s charger model should be checked before installation.
For boats using lithium batteries, a BMS-controlled charge disconnect can use this cable to stop solar charging when the battery system calls for it. That makes it a good fit for DC systems where solar input must be managed as part of the vessel’s battery protection strategy rather than left as a stand-alone charger function.
Use on board
In a cruising, fishing, or liveaboard solar setup, this cable helps keep charging behavior tied to the rest of the electrical system. It is especially useful where access to the MPPT is limited, such as behind panels, inside lockers, or near a battery compartment, and the charger needs to respond to a remote control source instead of manual interaction.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
