Overview
The Garmin TOPO Alaska Enhanced is a detailed topographic map product for Alaska, offered as either a preloaded microSD/SD card or a computer download. Mapping detail is comparable to 1:24,000 scale coverage in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, and other select areas, with 1:63,360 scale coverage for the rest of the state.
It adds terrain contours, elevation information, trails, and routable roads, plus water features such as coastlines, lake and river shorelines, wetlands, and seasonal or perennial streams. On compatible Garmin units, it can display 3-D terrain shading and elevation profiles to help you judge the shape of the ground before you commit to a route.
For boaters in Alaska, this is most useful when your GPS goes ashore with you, such as scouting anchorages from the beach, running a skiff upriver, or navigating from the dock to trailheads and camps. It is not a replacement for marine charts when you are navigating on the water.
Key features
- Topographic mapping for all of Alaska with 24K detail in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks, and other select areas, and 63K detail elsewhere
- Routable road content with turn-by-turn directions and point-to-point routing on compatible devices
- Trails and dirt roads shown alongside terrain contours and elevation information
- 3-D terrain shading and elevation profiles on compatible units for a clearer read of ridgelines, valleys, and grade changes
- Searchable points of interest including geographic place names, camping areas, businesses, and more
- Public land and boundary layers for parks, forests, recreation areas, and wildlife areas, plus Bureau of Land Management township, range, and section information
- Hydrographic detail including coastlines, shorelines, wetlands, and seasonal or perennial streams
Variants
This product is available in two formats, depending on how you want to load the mapping onto your Garmin device.
The mapping coverage and feature set are the same TOPO Alaska Enhanced content. What changes between options is the delivery method and the way the data is installed.
- 010-C1057-00: Format microSD/SD. The map comes preloaded on a microSD card and includes an SD adapter, so it can be inserted directly into compatible Garmin units with a card slot.
- 010-D1021-00: Format Download. The map is delivered digitally and is installed using Garmin Express on a computer, which is useful when you prefer to manage updates and installs through the Garmin desktop workflow.
Installation and setup
For the microSD/SD version, insert the card into the device’s map card slot and allow the unit time to index the new mapping. If you move the card between devices, fully power down and restart after swapping so the unit can rebuild the map list cleanly.
For the download version, connect your compatible Garmin device to a computer and use Garmin Express to download and install the map. Large map installs can take time, so plan to do it at home or at the dock before you head into areas with limited power and connectivity.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm that your Garmin GPS supports TOPO map products for Alaska and that it has the right storage option for the format you are buying. The microSD/SD version requires a compatible card slot, while the download version requires a compatible device that can be recognized and updated through Garmin Express.
If you are carrying the GPS on deck or in a skiff, keep in mind that mapping access depends on the device itself. This product does not connect to NMEA networks and does not require 12V or 24V wiring.
Maintenance and care
Keep the map card and adapter clean and dry. Salt residue and moisture can cause intermittent read issues, so it helps to handle cards with dry hands and store them in a small protective case when they are not in use.
Use on board
This map is a strong fit for Alaska cruisers, charter operators, and expedition crews who want land detail in addition to onboard navigation, especially when planning shore access, scouting rivers and lakes, or navigating from anchorages to trails and camps.
If your primary need is piloting in coastal waters, pair this type of topo mapping with the correct marine charting for your chartplotter or boating app, and use the topo layer when the mission shifts onto land.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
