Overview
The Perko Double Contact Bayonet Socket is a replacement bulb socket with a black polymer body for marine lighting applications that use double-contact bayonet bulbs. It is part of Perko Figure No. 0024 and is offered with either a 10 inch or 60 inch pigtail, giving installers a short-lead or long-lead option for routing wire inside a light housing, helm area, cabin fixture, or other protected lighting location.
This socket is a practical service part for restoring a worn, corroded, or damaged bulb connection without replacing the full light assembly when the fixture and bulb style match. The 3/4 inch outside diameter is important to confirm before installation, especially when replacing an older socket inside an existing Perko light.
Key features
- Double-contact bayonet socket for compatible marine bulbs that use a two-contact base.
- Black polymer body for use as a replacement component inside suitable boat lighting fixtures.
- Available with 10 inch or 60 inch pigtail length for different wire-routing needs.
- 3/4 inch outside diameter helps confirm fit before replacing an existing socket.
- Useful for service work on navigation, utility, cabin, or similar low-voltage boat lighting where the socket type and dimensions match.
Variants
This socket is offered in two configurations that use the same double-contact bayonet format and black polymer body, with the pigtail length as the changing option.
The shorter lead keeps wiring compact when the connection point is close to the fixture, while the longer lead gives more reach for installations where the wire path runs through a housing, panel, or tight space before joining the boat’s circuit.
- 0024DP1: 10 inch pigtail. This option suits replacements where the connection point is close and extra wire would only need to be coiled or trimmed.
- 0024DP2: 60 inch pigtail. This option gives more working length for routing through a fixture body, console area, or other protected path before making the electrical connection.
Installation and fit
Before ordering, match the existing socket style, outside diameter, pigtail length, and bulb base type. A double-contact bayonet socket is not interchangeable with a single-contact socket, even when the bulb size looks similar, so the contact layout should be checked before the old part is removed.
During installation, disconnect power to the light circuit, remove the old socket carefully, and make clean, protected wire connections suited to the location. In wet or exposed areas, the finished wiring should be supported and sealed in a way that keeps moisture away from the connection and reduces strain from vibration.
Use cases on board
This part is a good match for boat owners, service yards, and marine electricians who need a straightforward socket replacement rather than a full fixture change. It is especially useful when the lens, housing, and mounting hardware are still serviceable but the bulb socket no longer holds or powers the lamp correctly.
