Overview
The Perko 0525DP0BLK is a locking insert for Perko 1-1/2 inch vented fuel fills. It sits inside the fill neck and adds keyed access without replacing the full deck fill, using a black polymer body with a zinc alloy lock cylinder.
This insert is made for compatible Perko vented fills and works with the same key used to open the fill cap, which keeps fueling simple when you are topping off at the dock or fueling from a trailer. It is intended for Perko fill models 0540, 0541, 0580, 0581, 0582, 0583, 0590, 0591, and 1318, and it is not for EPA-compliant gas fills with vacuum pressure relief valves.
Key features
- Fits most Perko 1-1/2 inch vented fills, with direct compatibility for models 0540, 0541, 0580, 0581, 0582, 0583, 0590, 0591, and 1318
- Black polymer insert with a zinc alloy lock cylinder
- Dual-purpose key opens the fill cap and releases the locking insert
- Retrofit style insert that works with the existing compatible vented fill instead of replacing the deck fitting
- Not for use with Perko EPA-compliant gas fills that use a vacuum pressure relief valve system, including figures 0660, 0661, 0662, 0663, 0780, 0781, 0782, 0783, 0790, and 0791
Compatibility and fit
This part matters most by fill model, not by boat brand. It is a fit item for Perko vented fuel fills with a 1-1/2 inch fill size, so it should be checked against the figure number already installed on the deck fill before ordering.
It can also be used on Perko 0542 and 0543 fills when the plastic cap retainer system is removed. This makes sense for owners who already have a compatible Perko vented fill in place and want keyed control at the fill opening without changing the whole assembly.
Installation and use
The insert presses into the throat of a compatible fill and locks against the hose bib when fully seated. On Perko 0540 through 0591 fills, the tab at the top of the insert should align with the vent opening notch so the insert does not rotate during removal.
To remove it for fueling, the key is turned counterclockwise 90 degrees, which retracts the locking cams so the insert can be pulled out by the key. On older fills, the top of the fill neck needs a smooth transition inside the opening for the insert to seat and come back out cleanly.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
