Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VEU474S is an electronic chart covering the northern and western coasts of Denmark, running from Ålborg Bugt down toward the Elbe area near Cuxhaven, Germany. It is built for Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 Vision and want more detail for coastal routing, harbor approaches, and fishing structure work.
This chart includes Auto Guidance route suggestions based on your selected draft and overhead clearance, plus depth range shading and user-defined shallow water shading to make shoals stand out at a glance. You also get satellite imagery overlays and 3-D views that help you visualize bottom contours and above-water features when you are lining up an approach.
Coverage highlights include areas around Skagen, Thisted, and Esbjerg, along with waters such as Jammerbugten. As with any electronic cartography, it is a planning and situational tool and does not replace keeping a proper lookout and using local knowledge when conditions change.
Key features
- VEU474S coverage for northern and western Denmark, extending toward the German North Sea coast near Cuxhaven.
- Auto Guidance route suggestions that use your chosen depth and overhead clearance settings.
- Depth range shading with up to 10 selectable ranges for quicker depth interpretation.
- User-defined shallow water shading to call out areas that matter to your draft.
- Detailed contour presentation, including 1 foot contours for a closer read on bottom shape in many areas.
- Satellite imagery overlays to add real-world shoreline and landmark context to the chart view.
- FishEye and MarinerEye 3-D perspectives for visualizing contours and the surrounding environment.
- Aerial photography coverage for many ports, harbors, and marinas to help with first-time entries.
Variants
This chart is offered in multiple configurations so you can match how you load charts on your Garmin system.
The differences between variants are the delivery format (card versus download). The chart region and feature set are tied to VEU474S.
- 010-C0818-00: Format microSD/SD. This version comes on a memory card for chartplotters that read charts from a microSD or SD slot, which keeps setup straightforward when moving between compatible units.
- 010-D0622-00: Format Download. This version is delivered digitally for supported workflows where you load the chart data through the appropriate Garmin download and activation process instead of receiving a physical card.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm that your Garmin chartplotter supports BlueChart g3 Vision, not just standard chart products, and that it can use the format you are buying. For card versions, make sure your unit has the correct card slot type and that the slot is accessible at the helm.
Some views and overlays depend on chartplotter capabilities and settings. If you want the 3-D perspectives and imagery layers, verify that your display model and software support those views and that they are enabled in your chart settings.
Installation and setup
For the microSD/SD option, insert the card into the chart slot and select the chart from the chartplotter map settings. On many systems, the chart data is read from the card while you navigate, so plan to keep the card with the unit.
For the download option, follow the normal Garmin process for downloading, unlocking, and loading chart data to the supported storage location for your setup.
Use cases on board
This chart is a good match for skippers running the Danish North Sea coast, crossing between Danish ports, or working tidal and shallow areas where draft awareness matters. The tighter contour detail and shading tools also suit anglers who want a clearer picture of structure when searching for changes in bottom shape.
