Overview
The Garmin Signal™ External Speaker is a 6.5-inch shallow mount marine speaker made for compatible Garmin Signal™ marine VHF radios. It gives VHF audio a dedicated speaker location away from the radio body, which helps when the helm, cockpit, flybridge, or work area needs radio calls to be easier to hear.
With 15 W RMS output and a shallow mount format, this speaker suits boats where mounting depth is limited but clear VHF audio still matters. It is a single speaker assembly for communication audio, not a stereo speaker pair for entertainment systems.
Key features
- 6.5-inch external speaker for compatible Garmin Signal™ marine VHF radios.
- 15 W RMS output for VHF audio at a second listening position on board.
- Shallow mount layout helps with installations where space behind the panel is limited.
- Available in white or black so the speaker can match light or dark helm and cockpit surfaces.
- Includes both fabric and plastic grilles, giving the installer two grille options in the same package.
- Includes a surface mount spacer, mounting hardware, mounting template, and documentation to support a clean installation.
Variants
This Garmin Signal™ External Speaker is offered in two color configurations. The color is the visible difference between the versions, while the 6.5-inch speaker size, shallow mount format, 15 W RMS output, and Garmin Signal™ marine VHF use remain the same across the range.
The white version is commonly suited to white fiberglass consoles, hardtops, and open cockpit areas. The black version fits darker dash panels, electronics pods, and installations where the speaker should blend with black helm hardware.
- 010-13442-00: White. This version keeps the visible speaker face light, which works well on many fiberglass helm and cockpit surfaces.
- 010-13442-01: Black. This version gives the installation a darker face, which suits black dash panels and electronics layouts.
Installation and fit
The shallow mount body gives installers more flexibility when panel depth is limited. Before cutting, the mounting location should be checked for clearance behind the surface, cable routing, and access for the included mounting hardware.
A practical location is one where crew can hear VHF traffic without having to stand directly at the radio. Common placements include the helm face, cockpit side panel, flybridge console, or another sheltered working position where communication audio needs to carry clearly.
Compatibility and use on board
This speaker is intended for use with compatible Garmin Signal™ marine VHF radios. It is a good match for boats where the VHF radio is mounted inside an electronics box, lower on the dash, or in a position where the built-in speaker is not easy to hear during normal operation.
For cruising, fishing, and dockside operations, an external VHF speaker can make routine radio traffic, bridge calls, marina instructions, and crew communication easier to follow from the active helm area.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
