Overview
The Garmin 010-12769-00 is an active VHF station speaker that adds a remote audio point for onboard communication when used inline with a GHS 11 wired handset. It mounts in the helm, cockpit, or flybridge and delivers 2.5 W nominal (4 W max) audio output in a compact 11.1 x 11.1 x 3.8 cm housing rated IPX7.
Installation is set up as a station run: the speaker connects back to an open STATION port on the radio through an extension cable, and the handset plugs into the speaker’s connector. Plan the layout so the handset connection point is within 1.2 m of where you want to mount the connector, and keep the speaker at least 50 cm from a magnetic compass.
This is a good fit for boats where the VHF radio body is mounted out of the way or below decks and you still want call audio where you drive, dock, or work lines.
Key features
- Works inline with a GHS 11 wired VHF handset to add a remote communication speaker station.
- Connects to an open STATION port on the VHF radio using an extension cable run from the radio to the speaker location.
- IPX7 water rating for incidental immersion up to 1 m for up to 30 minutes.
- Audio output power: 2.5 W nominal, 4 W max.
- Compact footprint: 11.1 x 11.1 x 3.8 cm; weight 349 g.
- Compass-safe distance: mount at least 50 cm from a magnetic compass.
- Operating temperature range: -15°C to 70°C; storage range: -20°C to 70°C.
Installation and setup
The speaker is flush-mounted using the cutout template, then sealed against the panel with the mounting gasket and secured with the included M4 screws. A snap-on cover finishes the face and keeps the fasteners protected.
The handset connector can be mounted in a separate surface using the supplied mounting plate. Marine sealant is optional around fasteners and the connector opening for extra sealing in exposed locations.
Route an extension cable from the radio to the speaker location and connect it to an open STATION port, then connect the extension cable to the short lead from the speaker. Route the speaker’s longer lead to the handset connector location and connect the GHS 11 handset.
Compatibility and fit
Compatible with Garmin VHF 210, VHF 210 AIS, VHF 215, VHF 215 AIS, and VHF 315 marine radios. A GHS 11 wired VHF handset is required, and an extension cable is required to reach from the radio to the speaker location.
On-board use
Mount it where you need call audio most, such as at the main helm, a flybridge station, the cockpit during docking, or a nav station below. It helps when engine noise, wind, or distance from the radio makes the main unit hard to hear.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
