Overview
The Simrad SS60 is a 600 W, 50/200 kHz thru-hull transducer that sends depth and water temperature to compatible sonar systems. It uses a 9-pin black connector with a 10 m cable, and the low-profile body leaves about 5 mm extending below the hull to keep drag down.
This is a traditional dual-frequency transducer: 50 kHz runs a wider cone (45°) and is rated for depth performance to 366 m (1200 ft), while 200 kHz tightens the cone (12°) and is rated to 213 m (700 ft) for cleaner target separation in shallower water. The element is angled inside the housing to correct for hull deadrise, so the beam points closer to straight down once installed.
Installation is a true thru-hull fit. Plan for a 60 mm cutout in fiberglass or wood hulls (70 mm in metal hulls), plus inside clearance for the stem and nut. The transducer weighs about 1.4 kg and measures roughly 84 mm in diameter by 95 mm overall.

Variants
The SS60 is offered in multiple angle configurations to better match hull deadrise and keep the sonar beam aimed down once the housing is tightened to the hull.
The main difference between options is the built-in element angle. The core sonar output remains the same across the range: 600 W at 50/200 kHz with depth and temperature sensing, using a 9-pin black connector and a 10 m cable.
- 000-13784-001: Degrees 0°. Uses a 12° internal element angle and suits hull deadrise angles from 8° to 15°. This keeps the beam closer to vertical while the exterior stays nearly flush to the hull.
- 000-13786-001: Degrees 20°. Suits hull deadrise angles from 16° to 24°. This matches deeper V hulls where a flat-mounted transducer would otherwise point off to one side.
Compatibility and system integration
This model uses a 9-pin black transducer plug. It is commonly paired with Simrad NSS evo3 and Lowrance HDS G3 systems that accept the 9-pin connection. If your display or sonar module uses a 7-pin transducer port, an adapter is required between the transducer and the unit.
Installation and setup
As a thru-hull install, placement matters more than most people expect. Pick a location with clean water flow at speed, away from strakes, steps, intakes, and turbulence from the prop. Dry-fit inside the bilge first to confirm you have wrench access and enough clearance for the stem and cable bend radius.
Bed the housing properly, torque it to spec, and seal exposed core material around the hole to prevent water intrusion. On metal hulls, follow standard isolation and bonding practices to reduce corrosion risk, and use the correct hole size for the hull material.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for boats that want dependable traditional sonar depth plus water temperature in a low-profile thru-hull fitting. It is commonly used on smaller powerboats and center consoles where the hull regularly sees trailering, dockside bumps, and higher running speeds.
Maintenance and care
Keep the face clean for consistent readings. A quick wipe during haul-out and light antifouling practices appropriate for transducers help prevent growth that can soften the return. Periodically inspect the cable run for chafe and check the inside nut for any signs of weeping after the first few trips.
