Overview
The Simrad Halo is an open-array radar antenna assembly for HALO Open Array radar systems, offered in 3 ft and 6 ft sizes. It is rated IPX6 for waterproofing and is intended for exposed mounting where it will see salt spray, sun, and regular washdowns.
Because the array rotates, clearance matters as much as electronics. Plan for the antenna swing circle around the mount: the 3 ft model is about 3.75 ft (1142 mm) diameter, and the 6 ft model is about 6.72 ft (2047 mm) diameter.
This is the antenna assembly only. It must be paired with the matching HALO pedestal and the rest of the radar system to transmit and to show targets on a compatible display.
Key features
- Replacement open-array antenna for Simrad HALO Open Array radar systems (HALO 2000 and HALO 3000)
- Two size options: 3 ft and 6 ft, with swing-circle diameters of about 3.75 ft (1142 mm) and 6.72 ft (2047 mm)
- IPX6 waterproof rating for the pedestal and antenna environment, suited to deck washdowns and exposed mounting
- HALO Open Array systems accept 12 V or 24 V DC input (10.8 to 15 V DC on 12 V systems, 20 to 31.2 V DC on 24 V systems at the system input)
- Supports high-speed scanning up to 48 RPM when installed on a HALO Open Array pedestal
- HALO Open Array installations use an Ethernet connection (10/100 Base-T) between radar system and display for radar data
- Operating temperature range of -25°C to +55°C for typical offshore and winter conditions
Variants
This antenna is offered in multiple sizes to match your HALO Open Array radar setup and available mounting space.
The array size changes the physical sweep area around the mount and the clearance you need above deck. Electrical power and network integration are handled by the pedestal and interface hardware used in your HALO system.
- 000-11464-001: Diameter 3'. This size keeps the sweep area tighter on smaller hardtops and mast platforms.
- 000-11466-001: Diameter 6'. This size needs more clearance around the mount and is typically used where space aloft is not restricted.
Compatibility and fit
These antennas are used on Simrad HALO Open Array radar systems. Match the array size to the radar model already on board and confirm the rotating sweep will clear antennas, rigging, outriggers, solar panels, and bimini frames through a full rotation.
Mount the pedestal on a stiff surface that stays flat under load. Open arrays do not like flex, and a mount that moves in chop can shorten service life.
Electrical and network integration
In a HALO Open Array installation, radar data runs over Ethernet to the display, and the radar system is powered from a 12 V or 24 V DC supply through the system interface hardware. Use clean power, solid bonding/grounding, and route radar cabling away from high-current runs where practical to reduce noise issues.
Installation and setup
Isolate power at the breaker before working on the array. Support the antenna during removal and installation, then secure it to the pedestal with the correct fasteners and torque so it stays aligned. After installation, do a dockside check to confirm free rotation and a clear sweep with no nearby obstructions.
Who it suits
This antenna is a straightforward fit for owners and service teams running a HALO Open Array radar who need a like-for-like replacement after impact damage or corrosion, and for commercial operators who keep a spare array to reduce downtime.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
