Overview
The Hella Marine 2984 series is a starboard-side incandescent navigation light with 2 nautical mile visibility for 12V systems. It mounts on a vertical surface and uses a green lens to clearly mark your starboard side at night or in reduced visibility.
The housing snaps onto the base without external screws, which makes routine bulb checks and servicing less fiddly in tight mounting spots. Inside, the bulb hangs vertically and the electrical contacts sit higher in the lamp to help keep the contact area away from the damp, salty grime that builds up over time.
This light is IP55 rated for dust and water spray and is approved for common marine navigation-light requirements, including IMO Col Reg 72, USCG, ABYC A-16, and Maritime NZ.
Key features
- Starboard navigation light with a green lens and a 2 nautical mile rated visibility range
- 12V incandescent setup using a 25W BAY15d bulb
- IP55 rated sealing for dust and water spray in typical on-deck mounting locations
- Cable entry through the base plate with a rubber grommet to help protect the wire pass-through
- Housing snaps to the base without external screws for quicker access during servicing
- Non-magnetic, saltwater-resistant construction suited to common marine mounting areas
- Bulb orientation and contact placement are arranged to help reduce corrosion at the connections
Variants
This light is offered in multiple configurations with different housing colors.
The housing color changes between variants; core specs such as 12V power, 2 nautical mile visibility, and IP55 protection remain consistent.
- 002984345: Black housing. Fits cleanly alongside darker rails, rub rails, and trim, and keeps the fixture visually low-key on the topsides.
- 002984395: White housing. Blends in with white gelcoat, cabin sides, and lighter deck hardware for a more uniform look.
Installation and wiring
Mount the base to a suitable vertical surface on the starboard side where the light has an unobstructed view and the correct sector visibility. Route the supply wiring through the base plate entry and seat the rubber grommet so the pass-through stays protected from spray.
On most boats this ties into the navigation-light circuit at 12V. Confirm your system voltage before ordering, since this version is intended for 12V installations.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the exterior after heavy salt exposure and check the lens for buildup that can block light output. If the light stops working, inspect the bulb and the contact area, then reseat the snapped housing so it locks down evenly.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
