Overview

The Perko 1312DP0CHR is a cowl ventilator for passive airflow through a 3" duct on a boat. It uses a chrome plated zinc alloy cowl with a black polymer base, and the vent opening measures 8 square inches in a compact housing that is 5-3/4" long, 4-3/8" wide, and 2-5/8" high.

The 3" duct threads into the ventilator neck, so hose clamps are not required at that connection. This makes it a straightforward choice for cabins, lockers, and other enclosed spaces where you want fresh air moving through the boat without adding powered ventilation.

Installation and fit

Installation calls for a 3-1/2" round hole through the mounting surface and enough clearance below for a 3" duct run. The base fastens with four #8 screws or bolts, so it is best suited to a flat mounting area where the fasteners and duct can be set cleanly.

The top section inserts into the forward part of the base at about a 45 degree angle before the rear is lowered into place and secured. That gives the vent a tidy finished look once installed and keeps the assembly mechanically simple.

Use on board

This vent is a good match for boat owners adding passive ventilation to a cabin, locker, or similar enclosed space where a compact footprint matters. It also suits refit work where an existing 3" duct run is already in place or where you want a threaded duct connection instead of a clamp-on hose joint.
