Overview

The i2Systems Ember Snap Mount is a compact LED courtesy and step light back body that runs on 9-30V DC (12V and 24V systems) with IP67 sealing and a 1.5W typical draw (2.5W max).

It uses an asymmetric, down-angled beam meant for lighting steps, toe-kicks, and walk paths without throwing glare into your eyes. In practice, it is the kind of light you mount low on the boat so you can move around at night and still keep your night vision.

Variants

This product is offered in multiple light color outputs.

The variants below differ by the emitted color, which affects how the light looks on deck and how it blends with other onboard lighting.

• E1150Z-AAH: Color Temperature: Cool White (6500K). This reads as a crisp white that makes steps and edges easy to pick out.
• E1150Z-CAB: Color Temperature: Warm White (3000K). This has a softer look that suits cabins, companionways, and nighttime dockside use.
• EM-4L-65: Color Temperature: Blue. Blue light keeps the mood low and is commonly used for night wayfinding without a bright white cast.

Installation and setup

For snap mounting, bore a 1.25 in (32 mm) hole, feed the wiring, then seat the back body so the retaining clips lock behind the panel. Aim the fixture so the asymmetric beam throws light onto the walking surface rather than straight out into the space.

In wet or damp mounting locations, seal penetrations and nearby junction points so moisture cannot track into wiring compartments. This light is rated for exterior use, but it is not intended for locations where standing water can collect.

Electrical and system integration

Power it from the boat DC system within the 9-30V range. Typical wiring uses red for positive and black for DC common. The yellow lead is used for dimming control; leaving it unconnected runs the light at full output, while driving it with a compatible controller or PWM dimmer adjusts brightness.

It can also be used on low-voltage AC in the 9-15V range when installed with an appropriate transformer. Keep all connections protected from vibration and corrosion, and fuse the circuit appropriately for the branch run.

Use cases on board

This style of low-level light fits well on step risers, along companionway ladders, inside cockpits near footwells, at deck transitions, and along side-deck wayfinding routes. It is a strong match for boats that want consistent, low-glare guidance lighting without adding meaningful load to the house bank.

Materials and corrosion resistance

The fixture platform uses an aluminum and stainless steel construction with a polycarbonate lens, along with IP67 sealing to help keep spray and washdown water out of the housing. For best long-term results in saltwater, keep wiring terminations clean, sealed, and supported so they do not flex under vibration.

Processing and dispatch

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund.
