Overview
The i2Systems Apeiron Tri-Light is a screw-mount LED downlight that cycles three colors on a simple two-wire connection for 9-30 VDC boats. Power draw is 1.5 W, and the light is IP67 rated for exterior areas that see spray and washdowns.
It fits a 2.15 in (55 mm) cutout and covers the opening with a 3.50 in (89 mm) face. Depth behind the mounting surface is about 1.07 in (27 mm), which helps when planning installs in headliners, hardtops, cockpits, and other tight panels.
Color changes are handled by toggling power off and back on quickly at your existing switch, which makes it a solid retrofit when you do not want to run extra conductors. Red is useful when you want to preserve night vision, blue keeps light low in social areas, and white handles general lighting.
Key features
- Three-color output on two wires by cycling power at the switch
- 9-30 VDC input range for 12 V and 24 V electrical systems
- 1.5 W draw with typical current around 125 mA at 12 V and 63 mA at 24 V
- IP67 rating for spray and washdowns (not for submersible or standing-water locations)
- Wide 120 degree beam for broad, even coverage in cabins and deck areas
- Screw-mount format with removable bezel for service access and clean installation
- Stainless steel trim and housing with a tempered glass lens and diffuser
- Transient protection and reverse polarity protection built into the fixture
Variants
This light is offered with two different white tones, Warm White (3000 K) or Cool White (6500 K), paired with red and blue in the same fixture. Finish options include chrome, white, and brushed nickel to match surrounding hardware and interior trim.
Across the A3120 Tri-Light range, mounting format, cutout size, power draw, and input voltage stay consistent. The white color temperature choice and bezel finish are what change between configurations.
Installation and setup
Plan for a 2.15 in (55 mm) clearance hole for the body and about 1.07 in (27 mm) depth behind the panel. The bezel covers the cutout with a 3.50 in (89 mm) face, and the screw pattern uses three fasteners on a 3.12 in (79 mm) circle. For wet or damp mounting surfaces, sealing the wire entry and fasteners helps keep moisture from tracking into the panel core.
Electrical and switching
Wiring is straightforward: the red lead is positive (9-30 VDC) and the black lead is common ground. To step through colors, switch power off and back on again in under a second; the sequence cycles through three colors and then off. If multiple fixtures ever fall out of sync, turning them off for more than 3 seconds and powering back up will re-align them to the same starting state.
Use on board
This style of downlight is commonly installed in hardtops, arches, cockpits, pilot houses, and as courtesy lighting where a low-profile face is preferred. It is a good match for owners doing a refit who want red, blue, and white options without adding control wiring, and for crews who switch between white for general tasks and red for night runs.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue when you can and wipe the lens with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents that can haze the diffuser or dull the finish over time, and periodically check that mounting screws stay snug in vibration-prone areas.

International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
