Overview
The Lumitec Capri3 Spreader Light is a flush mount LED flood light for lighting decks and working areas from a hardtop, tower, or arch on 12V or 24V boats. It runs on 10-30 VDC, produces 1,200 lumens, and draws up to 1.0A at 12V (0.5A at 24V) with a 12W load.
The light head carries an IP67 rating for rain, spray, and routine washdowns. The housing is die-cast aluminum with a powder-coat finish, and the front face stays clean thanks to a spring butterfly clip mounting system that leaves no exposed fasteners.
White output is 5000K with a CRI of 70+, and the beam pattern is a flood spread meant to cover cockpits, foredecks, and dockside work areas without a tight hot spot.
Key features
- Works on 10-30 VDC systems (12V or 24V) and draws up to 1.0A at 12V or 0.5A at 24V (12W)
- 1,200 lumen flood spread for lighting cockpits, decks, and working areas from above
- IP67-rated light head for weather, spray, and washdowns
- Housing made from die-cast aluminum with a powder-coat finish to help manage heat
- Flush mount face held by a spring butterfly clip with no exposed front fasteners
- Output choices across the range include RGBW Spectrum, white dimming, white non-dimming, white/blue dimming, and white/red dimming
- Timed toggle control handles dimming and color changes on applicable outputs from a standard on/off power switch
- PLI-enabled configurations integrate with the Lumitec Poco system for digital lighting control
Variants
This light is offered with white or black housing finishes and several light output configurations. The differences between versions come down to the light color mode and whether the output includes dimming or color switching.
Core electrical and fit points stay consistent across the line: 10-30 VDC input, a 12W load, up to 1.0A at 12V (0.5A at 24V), 1,200 lumens, and an IP67-rated light head. Overall size is 4.08 in wide and 1.39 in high, with 1.43 in depth behind the mounting surface. Control behavior depends on the selected output, ranging from simple on/off on the non-dimming white version to timed toggle dimming and color switching on multi-mode versions, with Poco control available on PLI-enabled configurations.
Compatibility and fit
Capri3 is a flush mount light intended for a flat mounting surface on a hardtop, tower, arch, or similar structure where you want wide deck coverage. Confirm backside clearance for the 1.43 in depth and for routing the wiring so the spring clip can seat fully and stay tensioned over time.
Installation and setup
The butterfly clip mounting system holds the fixture from the backside of the panel, which keeps the outside face clean and avoids front screws. Plan for access behind the mounting surface so you can position the spring clip and dress the wiring without putting strain on the leads.
Electrical and control
Wire the red lead to the positive supply and the black lead to negative or ground. Install the light on a protected circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker, and size the circuit around up to 1.0A draw at 12V (0.5A at 24V) per light.
Dimming and color changes are handled through timed toggling on supported outputs. Dimming white versions ramp up at power-on and can be set to a dimmed state by a brief off/on interrupt during the ramp. Dual-color versions use a similar ramp and toggle method for dimming, with additional brief toggles used to change between white and the secondary color. Spectrum RGBW versions enter full-color mode with a quick off/on toggle within 2 seconds after the light is already on in white mode, then run a color cycle that can be locked by another quick toggle.
When digital control is used, PLI-enabled configurations can be connected to a Poco module for more granular control than a simple switch. Third-party dimmer modules are not used for dimming on these lights.
Use on board
This style of spreader light works well for lighting a cockpit while backing into a slip, washing down after a run, setting up tackle on the aft deck, or keeping the foredeck visible during night operations. It is a good match for boats that need a flush mount light with a clean face and want the option of built-in timed toggle control or Poco integration depending on the chosen output.
