Overview

The TACO Marine F16-0150-F is a pair of Striker Base gunnel mounts for 1-1/2" outrigger poles, built for anglers who want to run outriggers from the gunnel instead of a T-top. Each mount uses a 45° arm and a polished Type 316L stainless steel base, giving the setup the corrosion resistance and clean deck appearance expected on saltwater fishing boats.

This mount set gives offshore and coastal trolling crews a practical way to position outriggers from an easy-to-reach location along the gunwale. The hex nut locking system gives 12 positions, including stand-up and lay-down positions, so the poles can be set for fishing and then moved out of the way when the deck needs to stay clear.

The base measures 5-3/4" long by 3-7/8" wide and installs through the gunnel with a 2" hole saw. It is sold as a pair and is meant for use at trolling speeds only; the outrigger poles should be vertical when the boat is running.

Key features
  • Fits 1-1/2" outrigger poles for gunnel-mounted trolling setups.
  • Sold in pairs for port and starboard installation.
  • Polished Type 316L stainless steel construction helps resist corrosion in saltwater use.
  • 45° ambidextrous arms work on either port or starboard bases.
  • Hex nut locking system gives 12 positions, including stand-up and lay-down positions.
  • Removable arms help keep the deck more open when the outriggers are not in use.
  • Welded locking adapter adds strength at the arm connection point.
  • Compatible with Lee, Perko, and Rupp outrigger poles when the pole size matches the 1-1/2" mount.
  • For trolling-speed use only; the arm does not lock into the mount for running-speed operation.
Installation and fit

This mount is installed through the gunnel, so the mounting surface needs enough structure to support outrigger loads while trolling. The lower base tube sits at a 45° angle, and the elliptical opening should be cut at 45° to the mounting surface. For this part number, the installation uses a 2" hole saw.

A marine sealant should be used between the base and mounting surface to help protect the deck core and reduce water intrusion. Through-bolting is preferred when the gunnel layout allows it, and backing plates are recommended for mounting surfaces that are 3/4" thick or less. Mounting hardware is not included, so bolt length should be selected to match the actual gunnel thickness.

Use on board

This set is a practical match for fishing boats that need outrigger coverage without adding or modifying a T-top. The gunnel location keeps the controls within reach, which is useful when setting a spread, clearing lines, or moving between cockpit tasks during a trolling run.

Because the arms can be removed, the mounts are also useful on boats where cockpit space matters between fishing days. Once the arms are off, the deck area stays less cluttered for dockside work, cleaning, or general family use.

Maintenance and care

After saltwater use, rinse the mounts with fresh water and clean them with mild, non-abrasive soap. Avoid bleach, acids, strong degreasers, rubbing compounds, and abrasive cleaners, since those can damage the finish and shorten the life of the stainless surface.
