Overview

The TACO Marine V11-2423 is a flexible vinyl rub rail for replacing or upgrading the protective rail along a boat hull-to-deck joint. It has a black 1-7/8 in. x 1-1/8 in. profile and is offered here in 50 ft. and 70 ft. lengths, giving installers practical options for different hull sizes and repair scopes.

This rub rail comes in a continuous coil, which helps reduce visible seams around the boat and makes it easier to follow curves at the bow, stern corners, and sheer line. The flexible vinyl has a soft-durometer feel that helps cushion normal contact with docks, pilings, and other close-quarters surfaces.

It is a good match for boat owners, yards, and installers working on center consoles, cruisers, skiffs, bay boats, and similar fiberglass boats where a black flexible rub rail profile is needed for impact protection and a clean finished edge.

Key features
  • Black flexible vinyl rub rail with a 1-7/8 in. x 1-1/8 in. profile for hull-side protection and a finished perimeter edge.
  • Continuous coil format helps keep the installation cleaner by reducing joints and breaks along long runs.
  • Soft-durometer vinyl gives the rail a cushioning effect during normal dockside contact.
  • Tight-radius bends can be made with minimal heat, which helps when fitting curves at the bow and transom corners.
  • Works with TACO Marine V12-0003 flexible vinyl insert and F90-0001 end caps for a complete rub rail installation.
  • Uses #10 countersunk flat head screws, which are sold separately.
  • Made in the USA and backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
Variants

This rub rail is offered in multiple length configurations so the same profile can be matched to different boat sizes or repair needs.

The length changes between variants. The black flexible vinyl profile, insert compatibility, end cap compatibility, and screw type remain consistent across these listed configurations.

  • V11-2423BKA50-1, Length 50'. This length suits shorter perimeter runs, partial replacements, or smaller boats where a 50 ft. coil covers the required rail path.
  • V11-2423BKA70-1, Length 70'. This length gives more material for larger hulls or installations that need a longer continuous run with fewer breaks.
Compatibility and fit

Before ordering, compare the 1-7/8 in. x 1-1/8 in. profile against the existing rub rail footprint on the boat. Check the height, projection, insert style, and screw line so the new rail covers the old mounting marks and follows the hull-to-deck joint correctly.

The matching insert is TACO Marine V12-0003 and the matching end cap is F90-0001. Those parts matter when the installation needs a finished appearance at the rail ends or when the existing insert is cracked, faded, or missing.

Installation notes

Dry-fit the rail before fastening, especially around tight curves and corners. Minimal heat can help the vinyl take tighter bends, but the rail should be worked gradually so the profile stays even and the insert channel remains clean.

Use #10 countersunk flat head screws and follow a consistent fastening pattern along the rail. On older boats, inspect the original screw holes and substrate before installation, since loose fasteners, wet core material, or damaged laminate should be corrected before the new rub rail is fitted.

Use cases on board

This rub rail is useful for refresh projects where the existing rail is sun-faded, split, flattened from dock contact, or no longer holds the insert securely. It also fits full refit work where the boat needs a clean black perimeter rail after hull repairs, paint work, or gelcoat restoration.

For fishing boats, family runabouts, and coastal cruisers that spend time against floating docks, pilings, or rafted-up boats, the flexible vinyl profile adds a practical layer of protection without changing the basic layout of the boat.

Maintenance and care

Wash the rail with fresh water and mild boat soap after saltwater use. Avoid harsh solvents that can attack vinyl or leave the surface looking uneven.

During seasonal service, check the insert, end caps, and fasteners. A tight rail with a seated insert protects the edge of the boat more effectively and keeps the installation looking clean over time.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
