Overview

The Garmin 010-10856-30 is an extended-range VHF antenna that measures 13 inches and replaces the standard antenna on an Astro 320 handheld. When conditions cooperate, it can add up to 9 miles of tracking range with compatible Garmin handhelds and collars.

This is the handheld tracking antenna, not a fixed-mount antenna for a marine VHF radio or AIS, and it does not tie into NMEA 2000 or your boat’s GPS system.

On the water, the extra length helps when the handheld is down at waist level in a cockpit or skiff. Keeping the antenna upright and out from under metal rails, hardtops, and T-top frames makes the biggest difference.

Key features
  • Extended-range VHF tracking antenna for Garmin handheld dog tracking and training units
  • 13-inch flexible whip style
  • Adds up to 9 miles of tracking range in favorable conditions
  • Made to replace the handheld’s standard antenna without any wiring or power requirements
  • Compatible with Astro 320 and commonly used across compatible Alpha, Astro, and PRO handheld models
Compatibility and fit

Use this antenna on handheld dog tracking and training devices that accept the extended-range VHF antenna style. It is commonly paired with Astro handhelds such as the Astro 320 and Astro 220, and it is also used on compatible Garmin Alpha and PRO handheld units.

If you are shopping for a boat radio antenna, AIS antenna, or a GPS antenna for a chartplotter, this is not the right part. This antenna is meant for the VHF tracking link between the handheld and the collar.

Installation and setup

Swap it in place of the antenna already on your handheld, then snug it by hand. Avoid overtightening and avoid using tools that can damage the antenna base or the handheld’s antenna port.

For best real-world range, keep the antenna as vertical as you can and try not to block it with your body. On a boat, step clear of hardtop supports and rails when you need maximum reach.

Use cases on board

This antenna is a good match for hunters and guides running dogs around marsh edges, barrier islands, and back bays where the handheld may be used from a skiff, duck boat, or shoreline. It also makes sense for anyone who regularly tracks in cover and wants a longer antenna that stays flexible when the handheld is stowed or carried.

Maintenance and care

After exposure to salt spray, wipe the antenna down with fresh water and dry it before stowing. Check the base and connection point occasionally for grit or corrosion, and keep the handheld’s antenna port clean so the connection stays consistent.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
