Overview
The Lumitec Echo Courtesy Light is a low-profile LED courtesy and accent light for lighting steps, walkways, and other low-level areas on a boat where you want just enough light to move safely at night. It runs on 10 to 16 VDC, is IP67 water sealed, and draws 0.55 W (about 45 mA at 12 VDC), so it is easy to add without putting much load on the house battery.
Fit is straightforward in tight spaces: the face is about 1.24 in in diameter, depth is about 0.81 in, and the mounting hole is 11/16 in. That small cutout works well for toe-kicks, under-gunnel panels, companionway steps, cockpit seating bases, and helm pods where you want a clean look that sits close to flush.
Key features
- 10 to 16 VDC input for typical 12 V onboard systems
- IP67 water-sealed housing for exterior spray and washdowns when mounted correctly
- Low power draw at 0.55 W (about 45 mA at 12 VDC) for running multiple lights on a circuit
- Small footprint: 11/16 in mounting hole, about 1.24 in outside diameter, and about 0.81 in depth
- Third-party dimmer compatibility when you want to tune brightness for night running or dockside use
- Cool white version outputs about 45 lumens at 5000K with CRI 70+
- Offered in brushed stainless steel or white stainless steel finish, with blue, red, cool white, or warm white output options
Variants
This light is offered with two housing finishes and several LED color outputs. The finish changes the look of the bezel on the surface, while the LED color sets the tone of the light on deck or in the cabin.
Cool white reads crisp and clean in traffic areas, warm white feels softer in living spaces, blue is commonly used for low-glare accent lighting, and red is often preferred when you want light that is easier on night vision. Fit remains the same across the range, so the main decision points are finish and light color.
Installation and fit
Plan the mounting location for an 11/16 in cutout and confirm you have about 0.81 in of clearance behind the panel or liner. After the hole is drilled, the body passes through from the front and is secured from behind with the threaded collar. For wet areas, take the time to seal the cutout properly and route wiring so it is protected from chafe and water paths.
Electrical and system integration
Power the light from a 10 to 16 VDC supply and protect the circuit with an appropriately sized fuse, especially if you are installing multiple lights on the same run. With the low current draw, it is a good match for courtesy lighting on a switched circuit, and it can be used with compatible third-party dimmers when you want adjustable brightness.
Use on board
This style of courtesy light is a good match for boats that need discreet, low-level lighting for moving around at night, such as center consoles, cruisers, and sailboats with steps and traffic lanes that benefit from soft guidance lighting. It is also useful as an accent light in a cockpit, under a hardtop overhang, or along toe-kicks where you want the fixture to stay visually minimal.
