Overview
The Lumitec Shadow is a flush-mount LED downlight for boats that need a low-profile round fixture that can live in wet areas. It runs on 10-30 V DC (12V and 24V systems), draws 6 W, and uses an IP67 sealed housing that stands up to washdowns and spray.
Fit is straightforward: the bezel is 3.50 in (8.88 cm) across with a 2.00 in cutout and 1.10 in (2.79 cm) installation depth. The light spreads in a 120 degree beam, which works well for general downlighting in cabins, heads, cockpits, and hardtops.
Key features
- 10-30 V DC input range for common 12V and 24V onboard electrical systems
- IP67 sealed for exterior or interior mounting in damp locations; not intended for permanent underwater mounting
- 3.50 in (8.88 cm) overall diameter with a 2.00 in mounting hole and 1.10 in (2.79 cm) depth behind the panel
- 120 degree beam spread for wide-area downlighting
- Two-wire hookup with polarity-sensitive leads (black to negative, white or red to positive)
- Allow up to 580 mA at 12 V DC or 290 mA at 24 V DC per light when sizing fusing and wiring for a multi-light circuit
- Offered in multiple light outputs and control behaviors, plus white or polished finish trim options depending on configuration
Variants
This light is offered in multiple configurations that change the light output and the bezel finish.
Across the range you will see different light outputs such as white (non-dimming), warm white with dimming, multi-color combinations, and full RGBW. Finish options include a white finish or a polished finish, which mainly affects the look of the trim ring against your headliner or overhead panel.
Installation and setup
Plan for a 2.00 in round cutout and enough clearance behind the mounting surface for the 1.10 in body depth. Pre-drill for the provided #6 mounting screws and make sure the back of the mounting area stays accessible for wiring and service.
The housing is suitable for interior and exterior mounting locations where it may see spray or washdowns. Avoid mounting where it will be continuously submerged.
Electrical and control notes
Wire the light directly to the vessel’s DC supply and observe polarity. Circuits should be protected with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker based on the number of lights on the run and the total expected current draw.
Depending on the selected light output, operation can be handled with a simple on/off switch. Multi-color versions change colors by briefly switching power off and back on, and dimmable versions ramp brightness on the white channel so a quick off-on toggle can hold the level.
Use cases on board
Shadow is a good match for refits where you want a clean round bezel and you already have, or can easily add, a 2 in cutout. It fits well for overhead cabin lighting, cockpit overhangs, hardtops, helm stations, and other areas where a sealed downlight helps keep moisture out of the fixture.
