Overview
The Lumitec Orbit is a flush-mount LED down light for overhead lighting on boats, with an IP67 rating and a 10-30 VDC input that works on 12V and 24V systems.
It uses a 2 in (5.08 cm) face diameter with an overall depth of about 0.75 in (1.9 cm), which helps when headliner or hardtop clearance is tight. The series is rated at 4 W, and light output depends on the configuration.
Orbit is used for general cabin lighting and covered exterior areas, and it can also be set up for color accents or night lighting when you choose a multi-color version.
Key features
- 10-30 VDC input for 12V and 24V DC electrical systems
- IP67 sealed for interior spaces and exposed overhead locations, and it is not intended for permanent underwater mounting
- Flush-mount size: 2 in (5.08 cm) diameter and about 0.75 in (1.9 cm) overall depth
- Rated 4 W; white light output varies by configuration (about 130 to 210 lumens depending on version)
- White options include 5000K (CRI 70+) and 3000K warm white with higher color rendering (CRI 90+)
- Operating range listed from -31°F to 131°F (-35°C to 55°C)
- Some configurations support built-in dimming and color changes using simple power toggles from a standard SPST switch
Variants
Orbit is offered with different light outputs and two housing finishes: Brushed Stainless Steel and White finish. Output options include white (non-dimming), warm white with dimming, Spectrum RGBW, and multi-color combinations such as white/red/blue and white/red/blue/purple, plus versions that pair a non-dimming color with a dimmable white mode.
Across the range, the footprint stays consistent (2 in diameter with about 0.75 in overall depth), and the lights run on 10-30 VDC with a 4 W rating. Control behavior varies by output type, and some configurations add Lumitec control features such as Timed Toggled Protocol (TTP) and PLI while the simplest white-only versions remain straightforward on/off fixtures.
Installation and setup
Mounting uses a plate and screw pattern based on a printed cut template, then the light body inserts and rotates into the plate until it locks. Leave enough slack behind the panel so the fixture can be removed later without pulling on the wiring.
The light is polarity-sensitive. Connect the black wire to DC negative (ground) and the white or red wire to switched positive, protected by a fuse or breaker sized for the number of lights on the circuit.
The housing is fully sealed for interior and exterior mounting, but it is not meant to be installed in a location that stays underwater.
Control and dimming behavior
A standard SPST rocker or toggle switch can be used for basic control. On multi-color versions, output changes are done by switching power off and then back on to cycle through available colors, and the light returns to white after power has been off for a couple of seconds.
On two-color versions with white dimming, white light ramps in brightness. Switching off and back on during the ramp holds the selected dim level, and additional toggles move to the alternate color mode when that dimming stage is complete.
Where it fits on board
Orbit is commonly used as downlighting in salons, staterooms, companionways, and at the helm, and it also fits well under a hardtop, flybridge, or T-top where spray and vibration are part of normal use.
It is a good match for refits that need a small 2 in footprint and a shallow installation, especially when you want dimming or color modes without running extra control wiring.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt film with fresh water and mild soap. Avoid abrasive pads on the trim, and keep wiring connections strain-relieved and protected from standing water behind the mounting surface.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
