Overview
The Lumitec Newt is a compact livewell and baitwell light that also works well as a courtesy light in lockers, under-gunnel areas, step risers, and toe-kicks. It is intended for 12VDC boats with a 10 to 16V DC input range and draws about 30mA at 12V, which helps when you are wiring several lights on one circuit.
The body is fully sealed and rated IP67 for wet compartments and washdowns. With an overall face around 0.88 inch in diameter and about 0.78 inch of depth behind the panel, it fits in tight spaces where a larger fixture will not.
It is USCG ignition protected and CE marked, which matters when the mounting location may see fuel vapor exposure and you want a compliant install.
Key features
- Sealed housing rated IP67 for livewells, baitwells, and other wet areas
- 10 to 16V DC input range for 12V systems; no 24V option
- Approximate current draw of 30mA at 12V for planning multi-light circuits
- Through-panel mounting that routes wiring through a 5/8 inch hole and tightens from the back
- Works with mounting surfaces up to 3/8 inch thick
- Polycarbonate housing with a silicone gasket at the mounting face
- USCG ignition protected and CE marked
Variants
The Newt series is offered in several light colors, with dimming or non-dimming electronics depending on the version.
The form factor and basic mounting approach stay the same across the range; the differences are light color and whether the light can be dimmed.
- 101085: Blue light, dimming. Blue output is commonly used in wells and compartments when you want functional light without a harsh look.
- 101086: Red light, dimming. Red output is often used for low-level night lighting where a softer feel helps in the cockpit.
- 101240: Warm white light (3000K), non-dimming. This version is on and off only and gives a warmer tone in lockers and utility spaces.
- 101084: White light (5000K), dimming. This version supports dimming so the same light can run brighter for tasks or lower for courtesy lighting.
Installation and wiring
Choose a flat, smooth mounting spot and drill a 5/8 inch hole for the wiring. The light body passes through the hole and secures from the backside, keeping the front profile low and easy to wipe clean after a washdown.
Wire it to a fused 12VDC circuit. On dimming versions, use a dimmer that is compatible with LED loads. When multiple lights share a circuit, size the fuse for the combined current draw.
Use cases on board
Common installs include baitwells and livewells, gear lockers, step risers, companionway areas, and under-cabinet lighting. It is a good match for boats that need small points of light in wet zones, or for anglers adding well lighting without stepping up to higher-draw fixtures.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
