Overview
The Victron Energy MPPT WireBox-XL is a protective cover for Victron MPPT solar charger DC terminals, with XL versions for 150/85, 150/100, 250/85, and 250/100 VE.Can units. It covers the DC terminal area to reduce accidental contact with terminal screws, which matters when a solar charger is mounted in a locker, utility space, or other onboard location where people may reach near the equipment.
This accessory is for installations where the charger’s terminal layout needs a physical cover after the PV and battery cabling has been landed. It is a practical finishing piece for marine solar systems, especially on boats where vibration, service access, and close equipment spacing make clean cable routing and protected terminals important.
Key features
- Covers the DC terminals on compatible Victron MPPT solar chargers to reduce accidental contact with terminal screws.
- XL fit range covers Victron MPPT 150/85, 150/100, 250/85, and 250/100 VE.Can chargers when matched to the correct Tr or MC4 terminal style.
- Two PV terminal configurations are available, with Tr for terminal-block wiring and MC4 for chargers using MC4 PV inputs.
- Installation uses a steel base mounted to the MPPT before wall mounting, then the cover is fitted after the cables are secured.
- The cover fastens with two screws, giving the terminal area a cleaner and more guarded finish after wiring is complete.
Variants
The MPPT WireBox-XL range is offered in two PV terminal configurations for the same size class of Victron VE.Can MPPT solar chargers.
The main difference is the PV connection style. Tr is for the terminal-block version of the charger, while MC4 is for chargers with MC4 PV inputs. Both variants are part of the XL WireBox family for 150/85, 150/100, 250/85, and 250/100 VE.Can MPPT chargers.
- SCC950400210: PV Terminal Tr. This version matches the Tr terminal style, where PV wiring is landed at the charger terminals rather than through MC4 plug-in connectors.
- SCC950400310: PV Terminal MC4. This version matches MPPT chargers with MC4 PV inputs, keeping the cover aligned with the plug-in solar connector layout.
Installation and setup
Plan the WireBox installation at the same time as the MPPT mounting. The steel base is fitted to the MPPT before the charger is mounted to the wall or panel, so it should not be treated as an afterthought once the charger is already fixed in place.
After the MPPT is mounted, route and secure the cables before placing the WireBox cover. The cover is then fastened with two screws. On a boat, leave enough service access around the charger so the cover can be removed later for inspection, troubleshooting, or cable work.
Compatibility and fit
Check both the MPPT model and the PV terminal type before ordering. This is the XL WireBox size for larger 150/85, 150/100, 250/85, and 250/100 VE.Can MPPT chargers, not the smaller S, M, or L WireBox versions.
Match the Tr version to a charger with Tr terminal connections and the MC4 version to a charger with MC4 PV inputs. The cover is a terminal safety accessory, so it should be used alongside correct cable sizing, overcurrent protection, strain relief, and normal marine DC wiring practice.
Use cases on board
This WireBox is a good match for boats with solar charging equipment mounted in accessible electrical lockers, technical compartments, or other areas where hands, tools, or stored gear could come close to the MPPT wiring area. It helps keep the installation neater while adding a guarded cover over the charger terminals.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
