Overview

The B&G 213-10-038 is a replacement wind speed bearing for B&G masthead wind sensors. It restores smooth cup rotation when the original bearing starts to feel rough, bind, or develop play, which can show up as low wind speed readings, slow response in light air, or noisy data when the boat pitches and rolls.

This part services the wind speed side of the sensor (the anemometer cups). It is not the wind angle bearing, and it is not a complete masthead unit.

Key features
  • Replacement bearing for the wind speed (cup) assembly on B&G masthead wind sensors
  • Compatible with WS310 and WS320 wind sensors
  • Also used across WS700 series, 608, 508, 213, and 496 wind sensors
  • Helps correct wind speed issues caused by a worn, sticky, or noisy cup bearing
  • Service part that lets you refresh the masthead unit without replacing the full wind sensor
Compatibility and fit

This bearing is used in several B&G wind sensor families, including WS310, WS320, WS700 series, 608, 508, 213, and 496. Confirm your masthead unit model before ordering, especially if the sensor has been on the mast for many seasons or the boat has mixed generations of B&G instruments.

If your wind sensor still reports wind angle correctly but wind speed is erratic or slow to respond, the wind speed bearing is a common wear point to address along with inspecting the cups for cracks, UV damage, or looseness.

Installation and setup

Replacing a masthead bearing is usually a small-mechanics job, but it does require safe access to the masthead. Plan the work for dockside or calm conditions, and secure tools and small parts so nothing is dropped overboard.

After installation, the cups should spin freely by hand without grinding or wobble. Once back online, verify wind speed response at low apparent wind and compare against expected readings under steady conditions.

Use cases on board

This bearing is a good match for sailors who rely on accurate wind speed for trim and performance and have a masthead unit that has begun to stick or feel rough after seasons of salt exposure and constant rotation. It is also a sensible spare for offshore runs where a simple wear part can stop wind speed data from becoming unreliable mid-passage.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the masthead sensor with fresh water during routine washdowns and avoid blasting the unit with high-pressure spray. Periodic inspection of the cups and checking for free rotation helps catch bearing wear before it turns into inconsistent wind speed data.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
