Overview

The Raymarine A80802 is a 1 kW medium-wide CHIRP tilted-element thru-hull transducer for fishfinding systems that need broad sonar coverage below the boat without using an external fairing block. It combines depth with fast-response water-temperature sensing, with a 60 to 100 kHz CHIRP frequency range and depth tracking down to 400 m, or 1,300 ft.

The 20 degree tilted ceramic element helps compensate for hull deadrise so the beam is aimed more vertically after installation. Its medium-wide beam covers 57 to 73 degrees port to starboard with a 16 degree average fore and aft beam, which is useful for anglers looking for fish in the upper and mid-depth water column.

The stainless steel thru-hull housing suits fiberglass, wood, and metal hulls when installed with the correct bedding, isolation, and hardware practices for the hull material. The low-profile shape keeps the installation clean under the hull and works well on fishing boats where clean water flow across the face of the transducer matters.

Key features
  • 1 kW CHIRP transducer with medium frequency operation from 60 to 100 kHz.
  • Depth tracking capability down to 400 m, or 1,300 ft, when paired with a compatible sonar system and installed correctly.
  • Wide 57 to 73 degree port-to-starboard beam helps cover more water under the boat.
  • 20 degree tilted element supports hull deadrise applications from 16 to 24 degrees.
  • Depth and fast-response water-temperature sensing in one thru-hull unit.
  • Stainless steel housing for use with fiberglass, wood, and metal hulls when the installation is handled according to the hull type.
  • Low-profile thru-hull design reduces external drag compared with a larger fairing-style installation.
  • 9 m, or 30 ft, cable length gives practical routing flexibility from the hull location to the electronics area.
  • Requires a 95 mm, or 3-3/4 in, hull opening.
  • Xducer ID support helps compatible electronics identify the connected transducer.
Installation and fit

This is a tilted-element thru-hull transducer, so placement and hull angle matter. The 20 degree version is intended for hull sections with 16 to 24 degrees of deadrise, allowing the internal element to point closer to vertical once the housing is mounted through the hull.

The housing mounts almost flush to the hull and uses a 95 mm opening. It should be placed where it will stay in clean, non-aerated water while running, away from strakes, through-hulls, steps, and turbulence sources that can interrupt sonar returns at speed.

Sonar performance

The 60 to 100 kHz CHIRP range gives this transducer 40 kHz of usable bandwidth in a single band. The medium-wide beam is well suited to fishing where broader coverage matters more than a narrow search cone, especially when looking for bait, pelagic fish, or targets spread across the water column.

The 57 to 73 degree port-to-starboard beam gives a wider view across the boat than many narrow-beam thru-hull transducers, while the 16 degree average fore and aft beam helps maintain useful target separation. Correct installation is still critical, since hull turbulence and poor alignment can reduce bottom tracking and fish-target detail.

Compatibility and use on board

This transducer is built for CHIRP-ready fishfinder and multifunction-display systems that support a 1 kW thru-hull transducer of this type. Before installation, confirm the sonar module or display connection, connector type, and any required adapter cable for the electronics on board.

It is a strong match for fishing boats that need a permanent thru-hull sensor with depth, temperature, and broad medium-frequency coverage. The product is especially relevant for coastal and offshore anglers who want more coverage beneath the hull while keeping a low-profile installation.

Maintenance and care

Keep the transducer face clean and free of heavy marine growth so the sonar signal can pass through the acoustic window without unnecessary loss. Use antifouling products only when they are suitable for transducer faces and follow the paint and hull-material requirements for the installation.

During haul-out, inspect the housing, cable exit, bedding area, and inside nut for signs of movement, corrosion, damage, or water intrusion. Any thru-hull fitting should be checked as part of routine vessel maintenance before long runs or offshore trips.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
