Overview
The Simrad 000-15039-001 is an AP70 MK2 professional autopilot basic pack that combines the AP70 MK2 control head, AC70 autopilot computer, and RF300 rudder feedback sensor for closed-loop steering on commercial and larger vessels.
The AP70 MK2 control head runs on 12/24 VDC (+30% / -10%), draws up to 0.7 A at 12 V (0.4 A at 24 V), and uses a 2 A recommended fuse. It mounts flush or on a bracket, measures 253 x 144 x 54 mm, has an exposed IPX6 waterproof rating, and connects on NMEA 2000 via a CAN Micro-C port (1 LEN). For helm layouts with multiple stations, it supports command transfer between control points.
Key features
- Wheelmarked for use on board SOLAS vessels (IMO, MED-B).
- Supports installations with up to six drives and up to six rudders or thrusters for complex steering systems.
- Rotary control dial and dedicated keys for fast course changes and direct access to steering modes.
- Configurable work modes plus separate low speed and high speed modes for different operating conditions.
- No Drift steering uses GPS position data to hold a steady track over ground against wind and tide.
- Navigation steering supports route following from compatible MFD and ECDIS sources.
- RF300 rudder feedback is included, with a 10 m cable and link for accurate rudder angle sensing.
- AC70 drive computer supports reversible motor or non-isolated solenoid drive control and provides an IEC 61162-1 (NMEA 0183) RX/TX interface.
What's included
- AP70 MK2 autopilot controller (control head)
- AC70 autopilot computer (course computer)
- RF300 rudder feedback with 10 m cable and link
Compatibility and fit
This pack is typically installed on vessels with hydraulic steering, solenoid valve steering, or other common commercial drive arrangements where the AC70 handles drive control and the RF300 provides physical rudder feedback. The AP70 MK2 supports common vessel configurations, including water jets, azipods, Voith-Schneider, rudders, and outboards, with the correct drive interface and system setup.
On the networking side, the AP70 MK2 connects to the NMEA 2000 backbone using a Micro-C port. Plan your backbone layout and power so the autopilot can see heading and navigation sources, and so route steering and No Drift functions have the inputs they need.
Installation and setup
Mount the control head where the helmsman can see it in bright conditions and reach the dial comfortably while steering. Keep a 0.4 m compass-safe distance from magnetic compasses, and route cabling so it is supported and protected from chafe and vibration.
Rudder feedback performance depends on a clean mechanical linkage. The RF300 should be mounted with smooth travel through the full rudder range, then calibrated during commissioning so the displayed rudder angle matches the actual rudder position. Sea trial tuning is where the work modes and speed modes become useful, especially on heavier hulls or boats that run in mixed conditions.
Environmental notes
The control head is rated IPX6 for exposed mounting and operates from -30 C to +55 C. Even with an exposed rating, it helps to avoid directing high-pressure washdown spray at the bezel or connectors, and to keep cable entries drip-looped where possible.
Who it suits on board
This pack fits operators who want a dedicated autopilot controller at the helm and a course computer built for commercial steering systems, including installations with multiple stations, multiple rudders, or thruster integration.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
