Overview

The Raymarine E70670 is an RSW Wired Smart Wind transducer with a short arm and 30 m mast cable for collecting calibrated wind speed and wind direction data at the masthead. It is made for wired sailing instrument systems where dependable apparent and true wind information matters for trimming sails, steering to a target, and reading changing conditions from the cockpit.

This transducer runs from a 12 V DC SeaTalk NG supply with a 9 V to 16 V DC operating range and draws less than 100 mW. It has NMEA 2000 LEN 1 network loading, so it can be integrated into a properly powered SeaTalk NG or compatible NMEA 2000 backbone without adding a heavy electrical load.

The masthead unit is rated IPx6/IPx7 for exposure to spray, rain, and washdowns, while the wired gateway is rated IPx3 for protected installation below deck. The included 30 m cable gives enough length for many mast runs, and the Smart Wind wired gateway handles the connection back into the onboard network.

Key features
  • Short-arm RSW Wired Smart Wind transducer for masthead wind speed and direction measurement on sailing vessels.
  • Supplied with a 30 m Smart Wind mast cable for routing down the mast to the gateway.
  • Runs on 12 V DC via SeaTalk NG, with a 9 V to 16 V DC operating range and power consumption under 100 mW.
  • NMEA 2000 LEN 1 network load for integration into a correctly fused marine data backbone.
  • Smart Wind technology works without a separate wind processor or lengthy setup routine.
  • Wind tunnel tuned for consistent readings from the masthead, including true wind use with Raymarine Alpha Performance Displays and Axiom chartplotters.
  • Wind transducer rating of IPx6/IPx7, with operation from -25°C to +55°C for exposed sailing conditions.
  • Rated for wind speeds up to 115 mph, with vibration testing to EN 60945:2002 exposed requirements.
Installation and system integration

The wind transducer mounts at the masthead and connects through the supplied 30 m mast cable to the Smart Wind wired gateway. The gateway then connects into the vessel network using the included SeaTalk NG to DeviceNet adaptor cable. The SeaTalk NG backbone should be protected by a 5 A fuse.

When installed with compatible Raymarine displays, the sensor data can be used for wind, speed, true wind, and sailing performance calculations. This makes it a strong fit for cruising sailboats and performance-focused boats that already use Raymarine instruments or Axiom chartplotters.

Dimensions and environment

The wind transducer measures 657.762 mm long including cable, 540.712 mm long excluding cable, 46.96 mm wide, and 305.86 mm high. The wired gateway measures 155.61 mm long, 47.38 mm wide, and 30.61 mm high, so it can be mounted in a protected service area with access to the network backbone.

The masthead sensor is rated for 100% relative humidity, while the below-deck gateway is rated up to 93% relative humidity at 40°C. Storage temperature range is -30°C to +70°C, which helps cover seasonal layup and harsh cabin or locker temperatures.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
