Overview
The Hella Marine NaviLED Compact is a 2 nautical mile LED port and starboard navigation light pair for boats and yachts. It runs on 9 to 33V DC, so it suits both 12V and 24V systems, and the pair draws under 2W combined for low battery impact during night running.
Each light is fully sealed (IP67-rated) and built to handle washdowns, salt exposure, and vibration. The lens is UV resistant acrylic with impact resistance, and the shroud is made for knocks from gear and lines.
These lights come pre-wired with 120mm of marine cable per lamp for a clean install in tight spaces on the bow, pulpit, or topsides. With no filaments, there is no bulb maintenance and nothing to break from shock.
Key features
- Port and starboard pair with a 2 nautical mile visible range
- Multivolt input for 9 to 33V DC systems
- Under 2W combined power draw for the pair
- IP67-rated, fully sealed housing for wet installs and washdowns
- LED light engine with no filaments for vibration resistance and low maintenance
- Pre-wired 120mm marine cable on each lamp for faster wiring runs
- Electronics protected against voltage spikes up to +500V and reverse polarity down to -700V
- Approved to IMO COLREG 72, USCG, ABYC A-16, RINA, and Maritime NZ requirements
Variants
This light set is offered in multiple configurations so you can match the housing color and lens style to your installation.
Across the range, the differences are the housing color (black or white) and whether the lens is coloured or clear.
- 980520801: Black housing with coloured lens. The coloured lens option gives the classic red and green lens appearance at the bow.
- 980520811: White housing with coloured lens. White blends into many deck and rail mounts while keeping the traditional coloured lens look.
- 980520901: Black housing with clear lens. A clear lens keeps a cleaner look on the fitting when the lights are off while still serving port and starboard functions.
- 980520911: White housing with clear lens. This combination is often used where you want the light body to disappear against white gelcoat and keep a clear lens appearance.
Installation and setup
Mount the port light on the port side and the starboard light on the starboard side where the lenses have a clear view and are not shadowed by the pulpit, anchor gear, or a headsail. Keep the mounting surface flat so the housings sit square, and seal any fastener holes to protect the core and keep water out of the deck.
The short pre-wired leads are convenient for neat installs, but most boats will join into a junction point or extend wiring back to the navigation light circuit. Route the cable away from sharp edges and areas where it can be crushed by hatches or lockers.
Electrical and system integration
These lights are suitable for 9 to 33V DC, which covers typical 12V and 24V onboard systems and helps during low battery conditions. Connect them to a properly fused navigation-light circuit and verify polarity and switching at the helm before finalizing cable runs. Built-in protection helps with common onboard electrical events, but clean connections and dry splices still matter for long-term reliability.
Maintenance and care
The housings are sealed for life, so routine care is mainly a fresh-water rinse after salt use and a quick check that the lens faces remain unobstructed. Clean the lens with mild soap and water and avoid abrasive pads that can haze acrylic over time.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
