Overview
The Hella Marine NaviLED Compact is a 2 NM starboard navigation lamp for 12V and 24V DC systems with a 9V to 32V input range and an IP67 completely sealed housing.
It is an LED sidelight with no bulb to replace. Power consumption is less than 2W, and the electronics are spike protected to +500V with reverse polarity protection to -700V.
The compact body measures 71 x 53 x 33 mm with 50 mm mounting hole centers, making it a straightforward fit on a vertical surface where space is tight. Lens and housing materials are UV resistant for long-term exposure on deck.
Key features
- 2 NM minimum visible distance for yachts and powerboats; commonly used to meet side light requirements on vessels up to 50 m when installed per COLREG rules
- Multivolt 12 / 24V DC operation with a 9V to 32V input range
- IP67 completely sealed unit for washdowns and heavy weather
- Spike protection to +500V and reverse polarity protection to -700V
- UV resistant acrylic lens with a UV resistant ASA polymer housing
- Compact footprint: 71 x 53 x 33 mm with 50 mm mounting hole centers
- Pre-wired with tinned marine cable to keep connections simple and corrosion resistant
- Built with components that suppress electrical interference to international standard limits for onboard radio and navigation gear
Variants
This starboard lamp is available with black or white housing, with a clear lens or a coloured (green) lens, and with either a 120 mm cable tail or a 2.5 m cable.
Clear lens versions keep the optic visible, while coloured lens versions give the traditional green appearance. Cable length is mainly about how close your wiring join is to the mounting position: a short tail suits a nearby terminal block or junction, and a longer lead helps when the run needs to reach a panel or a protected splice point.
Installation and setup
Mount the light on the starboard side with an unobstructed view and the correct orientation, following your vessel's navigation light layout and COLREG requirements. Use the 50 mm mounting hole centers to mark and drill accurately, then seal fasteners and cable entries as you would for any deck-side electrical fitting.
Electrical and system integration
Wire it into your navigation light circuit on the DC panel. Even with built-in polarity protection, correct polarity and clean connections matter, especially on older boats with tired wiring. Use tinned connectors, heat shrink, and a drip loop so water cannot track down the cable into your join.
Compatibility and compliance
This is a 2 NM starboard light (green) in the NaviLED Compact range and is approved to IMO COLREG 72, USCG, ABYC C-5, RINA, CE, UKCA, RCM, and Maritime NZ. It is typically paired with the matching port light and a stern or all-round light to complete a compliant navigation set.
Use on board
This lamp is a good match for cruising sailboats, fishing boats, and powerboats that want an LED sidelight with low draw and a sealed body. It also suits boats that see vibration and pounding, where filament bulbs tend to fail early.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt off the lens and housing during routine washdowns and check that the lens stays clear of heavy oxidation or paint overspray. With the LED light source sealed inside the unit, there is no bulb maintenance, so upkeep is mainly about keeping the exterior clean and the wiring connections dry.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
