Overview

The Hella Marine 2 NM NaviLED PRO Bi-Colour Navigation Lamp is a combined red and green bow navigation light with 2 nautical mile visibility for vessels up to 20 m (65 ft) LOA. It runs on 9-33V DC for 12V and 24V systems and draws less than 2 W (under 0.17 A at 12V).

The lamp is fully sealed (IP67) and comes pre-wired with 2.5 m of twin-core marine cable for a clean, watertight install. Built-in protection helps in real boat electrics: spike protection to +500 V and reverse polarity protection to -700 V.

The LED engine has no filaments, so it keeps working through vibration and impacts that end up killing bulb-style lights. The heavy duty Grilamid lens is meant to stay clear and take knocks around the bow.

Variants

This navigation lamp is offered in two colour options for the housing.

The light output, electrical range, sealing, and approvals remain the same across the range; the difference is the external colour for matching your deck hardware and topsides.

• 959941001: Color Black. Black housing blends into darker bow rails and hardware, so the light is less visually prominent in daylight.
• 959941011: Color White. White housing matches white gelcoat and deck fittings for a more uniform look on many production boats.

Compatibility and fit

This is a bow bi-colour light, so it replaces a traditional pair of separate port and starboard sidelights with a single combined unit when mounted correctly on the centerline. It is intended for applications requiring a 2 NM rated navigation light on vessels up to 20 m (65 ft) LOA.

Installation and setup

Mount the lamp where it has an unobstructed view and where spray and impacts are expected, such as the pulpit or bow deck. Take the time to align the housing square to the vessel so the red and green sectors present correctly to other traffic.

The factory-fitted 2.5 m twin-core cable gives you room to route to a nav-light switch panel or distribution block. Keep the cable supported, avoid tight bends at the entry point, and seal any deck penetrations to prevent water tracking below.

Electrical and system integration

With a 9-33V DC input range, this lamp suits both 12V and 24V onboard systems and tolerates the voltage swings that come with starting, charging, and long cable runs. Reverse polarity and spike protection add a safety margin, but correct polarity and proper circuit protection on the boat still matter.

Use on board

This lamp makes sense for boats that spend time running after dark and for owners moving away from incandescent bulbs to cut current draw while keeping a compliant navigation signal. It is also a straightforward choice on boats that see heavy vibration, pounding, or frequent washdowns at the bow.

Maintenance and care

There are no bulbs to replace. Rinse salt off the lens and housing when you wash the boat, and check the cable and mounting fasteners as part of your regular pre-season lighting inspection.
