Overview
The Hella Marine LED 8560 Easy Fit Step Lamp is a sealed LED courtesy light that aims light downward at a 30 degree angle to light up steps, stairs, and toe-kicks without shining into your eyes. It runs on 12V or 24V DC systems and draws 0.5W, so it is easy to leave on with other low-draw cabin or deck lighting.
The housing is IP67 rated for a wet boat environment, and the optic stays clear until the light is on. The lens is UV resistant enhanced impact acrylic, and the lamp comes pre-wired with a 100mm tail of tinned marine cable for quick tie-in behind a panel or inside a locker.
Key features
- Downward light at 30 degrees to illuminate steps and walkways with less glare
- Multivolt electronics for consistent light output on 12V or 24V DC systems
- 0.5W power draw (less than 0.04A at 12V, less than 0.02A at 24V)
- IP67 completely sealed for cockpit steps, companionways, and other splash zones
- UV resistant enhanced impact acrylic lens with a clear appearance when switched off
- 100mm tinned marine cable tail for a clean splice point behind the mounting surface
- Cap options include white plastic, chrome plated plastic, or polished 316 stainless steel
- CE, RCM, and UKCA approvals
Variants
This lamp is offered with different cap materials and different LED light colors. Cap options include white plastic, chrome plated plastic, and polished 316 stainless steel.
Light color choices include white, warm white (2700K), blue, and red. Across the range, the lamp remains a 12V to 24V DC multivolt unit with a 30 degree down-light pattern, IP67 sealing, and 0.5W power consumption.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location so the light can wash across the tread or deck surface, not straight out at knee height. Because the lamp is supplied with a short pre-wired tail, it helps to choose a spot where you can make the connection in a protected cavity behind the panel, inside a locker, or under a step.
Use marine-grade, sealed connections for the splice, and keep wire joints out of areas that can sit wet. When mounting in exterior surfaces, seal fasteners and any penetrations to prevent water from wicking into the core.
Electrical and wiring notes
This is a DC courtesy light for 12V or 24V systems. It fits well on a switched courtesy lighting circuit, a step-light circuit, or a breaker-protected cabin lighting run because current draw is very low.
Materials and finish
White plastic caps blend into light-colored liners and fiberglass. Chrome plated plastic gives a bright trim look with a lighter cap than metal, and it is best cleaned with non-abrasive products to keep the finish looking smooth.
The polished 316 stainless steel cap is a strong match for hardware-heavy cockpits and saltwater boats where stainless trim holds up well when rinsed and maintained.
Use on board
This style of down-light works well for companionway steps, cockpit steps, toe-kicks in the galley, under-gunwale lighting, and locker entries where you want guidance lighting without glare. Warm white is often used where you want a softer look in cabins, while blue or red is commonly used as accent or night lighting on deck.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
