Overview

The Victron Energy MultiPlus Compact 2000VA is a 120V VE.Bus inverter/charger for 12V or 24V DC boat electrical systems, pairing a 2000VA true sine wave inverter with a 50A AC transfer switch. It gives a vessel one central unit for inverter power, battery charging, and automatic transfer between battery power and a shore or generator AC source.

For marine installations, the practical value is in how it manages limited AC power. PowerControl can reduce charging demand when the shore cord or generator is already carrying other loads, while PowerAssist can add battery inverter power during short peaks. The unit is housed in a steel IP22 enclosure measuring 506 x 236 x 147 mm and weighing 15.5 kg, so it belongs in an electrical space that stays dry and has ventilation, not in an exposed cockpit, lazarette, or washdown area.

Key features
  • Combines a true sine wave inverter, adaptive battery charger, and high-speed AC transfer switch in one unit.
  • 2000VA inverter rating with 120V AC output at 60Hz for North American onboard AC systems.
  • 50A transfer switch supports automatic changeover between inverter power and shore or generator input.
  • PowerControl helps prevent shore power or generator overload by reducing charge current when onboard AC loads increase.
  • PowerAssist can supplement a limited shore or generator source with battery inverter power during brief demand peaks.
  • VE.Bus communication port supports system integration, remote monitoring, and parallel or three-phase operation where the installation is configured for it.
  • Search Mode reduces no-load inverter consumption by approximately 70 percent when very small or no AC loads are present.
  • IP22 steel enclosure is intended for protected interior mounting in a space with airflow and access for service.
Variants

This MultiPlus Compact 2000VA range is offered in two DC system configurations for boats using either a 12V or 24V battery bank.

The system voltage and main charge current change by variant. The 120V AC output, 2000VA inverter rating, 50A transfer switch, VE.Bus communication, enclosure dimensions, and 15.5 kg weight remain the same across these two configurations.

  • CMP122200102: 12V system voltage with 80A charge current. This version matches 12V house battery systems often found on smaller cruising boats, fishing boats, and refits where the existing DC distribution is based around 12V.
  • CMP242200100: 24V system voltage with 50A charge current. This version fits 24V battery banks used on vessels with higher DC loads or longer cable runs where lower current on the DC side is part of the electrical layout.
Installation and setup

The unit should be installed by a qualified marine electrical technician with correct DC fusing, AC circuit protection, and protective grounding. Battery cables, shore power wiring, and generator connections need to match the selected 12V or 24V model and the vessel’s electrical standards.

Basic settings such as battery charge voltage and Search Mode can be handled with DIP switches. More advanced configuration can be carried out through VE.Bus tools or compatible Victron monitoring hardware, which is useful when the inverter/charger is part of a larger onboard energy system.

Compatibility and fit

This product is suited to boats that use 120V AC service and need inverter power when away from the dock, battery charging when connected to shore power or a generator, and automatic transfer between those sources. It is a strong match for cruising boats, workboats, and fishing boats with onboard AC loads that must be supported without oversizing the generator or constantly managing the charger by hand.

Because the enclosure is IP22, placement matters. Mount it where it is protected from spray, bilge moisture, salt deposits, and dust, with space around the ventilation openings so heat can leave the unit during charging or inverter operation.

Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.

Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.

Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.

To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.

We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
