Overview
The Vimar VMV71793 is a 3-module flush mounting box with a plaster frame for installing Exé flush-wall cover plates on hollow walls. It uses a glow-wire tested plastic body (GW 960°C) and provides up to 58.65 mm of usable depth for wiring and device bodies behind the finished panel.
On boats this style of box is commonly used behind cabin liners, bulkhead panels, or helm and nav station surfaces where you have a cavity rather than a solid wall. The rectangular plaster frame helps the finished Exé plate sit flush, which keeps the install tidy in visible interior areas.
This box is rated IP00, so it is intended for dry, protected locations behind a finished surface, not for exposed areas that see spray or washdowns.
Key features
- 3-module box for Exé flush-wall plates in hollow wall installations
- Glow-wire tested to 960°C for better resistance to heat from wiring faults
- Accepts 20 mm or 25 mm conduit; cable entry through break-out openings
- Rear-entry layout with 12 inlets for routing feeds and loops in a panel cavity
- Up to 58.65 mm depth to accommodate wiring and the back of installed devices
- Halogen-free plastic body (blue) with an untreated surface finish
- Couplable format for aligned multi-gang installations
- IP00 enclosure rating, so it needs a dry, protected mounting position
Installation and setup
Plan the cut-out based on the Exé flush-wall layout, then set the plaster frame flush with the finished surface so the cover plate sits level. Leave enough cavity space behind the panel for the device depth plus room to route conductors without tight bends.
Conduit entries are made by knocking out the required openings and bringing in 20 mm or 25 mm tube from the rear. Switching equipment is fixed by screw mounting, which helps keep inserts stable when panels see vibration under way.
Compatibility and fit
This box is sized for three Vimar modules and is intended for Exé flush-wall cover plates. If you are mixing ranges, confirm that the module format and plate system match the Exé flush-wall style before cutting the panel.
The overall footprint is 230 mm by 192 mm, which is useful for checking clearance behind trim rings, console reinforcements, and nearby hardware.
Use on board
It fits interior switch and outlet points where you want the plate to sit flush, such as cabin bulkheads, a galley panel, or a nav station switch bank. It also works well in refits where surface boxes are being replaced with a flush-wall finish in dry living spaces.
Maintenance and checks
After the first few trips, re-check device fixing screws and cable supports, especially on fast powerboats where panels see more vibration. Keep the cavity dry and route conductors so they cannot chafe on cut edges or at break-out points.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
