Overview
The Vimar Idea 17002 is a 1P 10 AX 250 V two-way rocker switch from the reduced-module Idea range. It is a one-module device for flush-mounted installations, with IP40 protection, screw terminals, and a rocker format that suits everyday lighting control in compact switch layouts.
In practical use, this switch controls one lighting circuit from two locations. That makes it a sensible fit for interior spaces where you want access at both ends of the run, such as a cabin entrance and berth area, or a companionway and saloon passage. The housing is halogen-free thermoplastic with a matt finish and a label space on the front.
For onboard refit work, this is best kept to enclosed interior areas. The IP40 rating and open domestic-style format make it better suited to cabins, enclosed helm interiors, and dry service spaces than exposed decks, wet lockers, or any location that sees regular spray or washdowns.
Key features
- 1P 10 AX 250 V two-way switch for controlling one circuit from two switch points
- Reduced one-module format for Vimar Idea modular installations where panel space is limited
- IP40 protection for sheltered interior locations
- Screw terminal connection for secure wiring in flush-mounted boxes
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with matt surface and front label space
- Suitable for self-ballasted lamps up to 100 W
- No illumination or pilot light, which keeps the front simple and low profile
Variants
This product is offered in two color configurations within the same Idea 17002 switch format.
The confirmed change between the listed variants is the finish color. The switching function, electrical rating, and reduced-module layout remain the same across both options.
- VM17002.B: Color Ivory. This lighter finish works well in cabins and interior panels where trim, liners, or switch surrounds lean toward warm white tones.
- VM17002: Color Gray. This darker finish sits more quietly against gray panels, technical interiors, and spaces where lower visual contrast is preferred.
Installation and fit
This switch is part of the Vimar Idea modular system, so it should be matched with the correct Idea support and cover components already used on the vessel or planned for the refit. The built-in depth is suited to flush-mounted wall boxes where rear space is limited, and the one-module format helps when several functions need to share the same plate.
Because this is a two-way switch, it belongs in lighting runs that already use the correct switching layout. It is not a sealed exterior switch, and it is not intended for heavy appliance isolation. In a marine setting, it makes the most sense for interior lighting circuits in accommodation spaces and enclosed control areas.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
