Overview
The Vimar Idea 16004 is a one-module 2-way rocker switch for 250 V circuits, rated at 10 AX, with support for self-ballasted lamps up to 100 W. It fits the Vimar Idea modular system and uses screw terminals, snap fastening, and a thermoplastic body with a matt finish.
This switch is used when one light needs control from two locations, such as a cabin entrance and berth area or two access points in a passageway. With IP40 protection, it belongs in interior spaces that stay sheltered, not on exposed decks or in areas that see washdowns or regular spray.
Key features
- 2-way switching layout for one lighting circuit controlled from two points
- Rated 10 AX at 250 V, with a 100 W limit for self-ballasted lamps
- One-module Idea mechanism with flush-mounted installation
- Screw terminal connections with snap-in fastening
- Thermoplastic, halogen-free body with a matt surface finish
- IP40 protection for protected interior locations
- Front label space for circuit identification
Variants
This product is offered in two color configurations within the same switch format.
Across the two variants, the switching function, 10 AX / 250 V rating, one-module format, flush mounting, and IP40 protection stay the same. The visible change is the front color.
- VM16004.B: Color Ivory. This version suits installations with lighter trim, plates, or interior finishes.
- VM16004: Color Gray. This version matches gray device layouts and darker surrounding trim.
Installation and fit
This mechanism is made for flush-mounted modular installations and takes one module position in the Idea system. The body measures 24.8 mm wide, 50.1 mm high, and 36.5 mm deep, with a built-in depth of 23.3 mm, which helps when checking box depth and clearance behind the mounting surface.
The unit does not include a mounting plate on the mechanism itself, so it should be matched with the correct support and cover components from the same system.
Use on board
On a boat, this switch makes sense where a vessel uses a modular mains-voltage switching layout in protected interior areas. It is a practical fit for cabins, saloons, passageways, or other dry accommodation spaces where a clean flush-mounted finish matters and the switch is kept away from direct water exposure.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
