Overview
The Vimar Idea 16246 is a double 2P+E 15 A 127 V socket outlet for the Vimar Idea modular system, with two USA pattern receptacles in a 3-module format. It is built for flush mounting, uses screw terminals, and is rated for 50 to 60 Hz service with IP20 protection.
This is the kind of outlet used where a boat already has Vimar Idea devices in place and the AC system needs a matching duplex receptacle for a 127 V circuit. The housing is halogen-free thermoplastic with a matt finish, and the device measures 74.8 x 50.1 x 36.5 mm, which helps when checking panel space during a refit or replacement job.
Because it is IP20 and has no lid, it belongs in an interior location that stays dry, such as a cabin, galley bulkhead, or helm console inside the enclosure. It is not the right choice for open deck exposure, washdown areas, or lockers that take spray.
Key features
- Two 2P+E receptacles in one device for 15 A, 127 V AC service
- Fits the Vimar Idea 3-module format for flush-mounted installations
- Screw terminal connection for fixed wiring
- IP20 protection for interior spaces that stay dry
- Halogen-free thermoplastic construction with a matt finish
- 74.8 x 50.1 x 36.5 mm size for fit checks in replacement work
Variants
This outlet is offered in two color configurations.
The electrical layout, 15 A and 127 V rating, 3-module format, screw terminal connection, frequency range, IP20 protection, and overall dimensions stay the same across both versions. The visible change is the front color and matching finish.
- VM16246.B - Color Ivory. This version works where the surrounding Idea devices and trim use a lighter finish.
- VM16246 - Color Gray. This version matches installations that already use the darker gray Idea finish.
Compatibility and fit
This outlet is a good match for boats already set up around the Vimar Idea range, especially when one damaged receptacle needs to be replaced without changing the rest of the panel. Before ordering, check that the installation uses the Idea system and has room for a 3-module device with a depth of 36.5 mm.
It is intended for 127 V AC circuits and uses the American and Saudi Arabian outlet standard shown in this model. That matters on boats with equipment and shore power accessories built around that plug format.
Installation and use on board
For marine refit work, this outlet makes the most sense inside accommodation spaces or enclosed control areas where the back of the device can stay protected from spray and condensation. The screw terminal layout suits permanent wiring, and the flush-mounted form keeps the face of the outlet neat once it is installed in a matching panel.
This is a sensible option for cruisers, sportfishing boats, and yachts that already use Vimar modular devices and need a clean replacement outlet for interior AC service. It is less suited to areas where extra touch protection, a protective lid, or a higher ingress rating is needed.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
