Overview
The Vimar Idea 16208 SICURY socket outlet is a flush-mounted German standard 2P+E outlet for the IDEA modular range, rated 16 A at 250 V with a two-module format and IP20 protection. It is a standard AC outlet insert with enhanced contact protection, screw terminals, and label space.
On a boat, this suits protected interior areas where the onboard AC system uses the German standard plug pattern. The thermoplastic body is halogen-free with a matt finish, and it is meant for dry locations rather than exposed deck or washdown areas.
Key features
- German standard 2P+E outlet rated 16 A at 250 V AC
- Two-module IDEA format for matching modular frames and cover plates
- Enhanced contact protection in the SICURY outlet design
- Screw terminal connections for fixed wiring
- Flush-mounted construction with IP20 protection for protected interior spaces
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with matt finish and label space
Variants
This outlet is offered in two color configurations within the same IDEA two-module format.
The listed difference between variants is the front color. The outlet type, German standard 2P+E format, 16 A and 250 V rating, screw terminals, flush mounting, and IP20 protection remain the same across both versions.
- VM16208.B, Color Ivory. This finish works with ivory or off-white trim and lighter interior panels.
- VM16208, Color Gray. This finish blends with gray plates and darker interior panel layouts.
Compatibility and fit
This device belongs on the AC side of the boat, not on 12 V or 24 V DC circuits. It fits boats that already use the Vimar IDEA modular system, or new interior panels built around the same two-module layout and German standard socket pattern.
It is a standard outlet insert, not a USB charging point and not a socket with built-in fault current or overvoltage protection. Those protections need to be handled elsewhere in the vessel's AC distribution system when required.
Installation and location
IP20 means it is meant for protected indoor spaces such as the cabin, saloon, galley, or navigation area. It is not the right choice for the cockpit, open deck, or other places where spray, rain, washdowns, or heavy condensation are expected.
The flush-mounted body and screw terminals make it suited to fixed panel installations where the matching support, frame, and cover plate are already in place. For refits, it works as a direct replacement when the boat already carries IDEA devices in the same format.
Use on board
This outlet suits cruising boats and yachts that need a replacement German standard interior outlet without changing the surrounding IDEA switch system. It also makes sense in new cabin fit-outs where AC sockets need to stay visually consistent with other IDEA devices.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
