Overview
The Vimar VM16716 is a 6-module flush-mount mounting frame with fixing screws for 6/7-module rectangular mounting boxes, made from grey thermoplastic.
It is the support that holds Vimar Idea modular devices in a straight line behind a matching 6-module cover plate, so switches and other modules stay aligned and do not loosen up with vibration.
The frame accepts one row of six modules and can be installed horizontally or vertically. Face size is 60 x 172 mm, and the modules mount from the back side of the frame.
Key features
- 6-module mounting frame for Vimar Idea modular devices behind a matching 6-module cover plate
- Fits 6/7-module rectangular flush-mount boxes; commonly paired with VMV71306, VMV71306.AU, and VM71616 boxes
- Screw mounting to the box with fixing screws included
- Back-side module mounting for clean front alignment
- Installs horizontally or vertically while keeping a single row of six modules
- Frame only (no built-in installation box)
- Not intended for round junction boxes, floor boxes, wall duct mounting, or DIN-rail mounting
Compatibility and fit
This frame is part of the Vimar Idea system and is used with 6-module Idea cover plates (Round and Square styles). It is sized for rectangular flush-mount boxes that accept 6 or 7 modules, so confirm your box type and spacing before cutting a new opening in a panel.
For replacements, match the module count and the box code you already have on board. If the cutout forces a vertical orientation, the frame still carries one row of six modules.
Installation and setup
Fix the frame to the flush-mount box using the supplied screws, then mount the modules from the back side of the frame and finish with the cover plate. Leave enough wire slack inside the box so a module can be pulled forward later for service without tugging on terminals.
On fiberglass or thin bulkheads, make sure the box is seated on a flat surface before tightening the screws. That keeps the cover plate sitting flush and helps prevent squeaks or movement underway.
Use cases on board
This frame is commonly used to build clean, modular switch and outlet stations at the helm, nav station, or cabin entry, where you want a consistent layout across lighting, pumps, and accessory controls.
It is a good match for refits where an older switch cluster is being replaced with an Idea layout that can be expanded or reconfigured later by swapping individual modules.
Materials and care
The body is thermoplastic. Keep it behind the cover plate and avoid harsh solvents during cleaning. A damp cloth wipe is usually enough for routine care in cabins and protected areas.

Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
