Overview
The Vimar Idea table mounting box is a 3-module surface-mounted box for modular domestic switching devices, built for horizontal installation where a clean control point is needed on a table, shelf, cabinet top, or other interior surface. It measures 122.8 x 71.2 x 77.4 mm, includes cable entry with cord-grip, and is rated IP20 for dry interior locations.
The plastic housing has a matt finish, is halogen-free, and is shock resistant. This box is used only with the Classica cover plate and gives you a practical way to add a 3-module switch or control position when a recessed box is not the right fit.
Key features
- 3-module table mounting box for Vimar Idea modular switching devices
- Horizontal surface-mount format with cable entry and cord-grip
- Compatible only with the Classica cover plate
- Plastic body with halogen-free construction and shock-resistant housing
- IP20 protection for dry interior spaces
- Matt finish with compact overall dimensions of 122.8 x 71.2 x 77.4 mm
Variants
This product is offered in two color configurations.
The variant change is the enclosure color. Both versions share the same 3-module layout, plastic body, matt finish, cable entry with cord-grip, horizontal mounting direction, IP20 rating, and overall dimensions.
- VM16803.B: White, similar to RAL 9001. This finish blends more easily with lighter interior panels, trim, and switch areas.
- VM16803: Gray, similar to RAL 7015. This finish sits more naturally with darker consoles, utility spaces, or contrasting switch layouts.
Compatibility and fit
This box is intended for 3-module Vimar Idea installations and pairs only with the Classica cover plate. It is a surface-mounted option, so it works well where there is not enough depth behind the panel for a recessed box or where cutting into finished joinery is better avoided.
There is no cover frame and no duct entry, so it is worth checking the matching plate and cable routing before installation. The horizontal format also makes it easier to line up with other controls on furniture tops or interior service points.
Installation and onboard use
On board, this type of box makes sense in protected interior areas such as a chart table, cabin control point, saloon furniture, or other dry locations where you want modular switching within easy reach. The IP20 rating makes it better suited to interior spaces than exposed deck, cockpit, or washdown areas.
It is a good match for refit work and new interior installations that already use Vimar Idea devices and need a neat 3-module surface mount without opening up cabinetry or liners for a recessed back box.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
