Overview
The Vimar Idea master dimmer is a flush-mounted lighting control for interior spaces on board, available in 120 V 60 Hz and 230 V 50 Hz versions, with Gray and Ivory color options. Across the range, it works with incandescent lamps from 40 to 400 W, electronic transformers from 40 to 300 VA, CFL lamps from 10 to 200 W, and LED lamps from 3 to 200 W.
Control is by the built-in push button or by external NO peripheral push buttons, with minimum brightness adjustment and a control point that stays visible in the dark. The body measures 24.8 mm wide, 48 mm high, and 52.1 mm deep, uses screwed terminals, and carries an IP40 rating, so it suits cabin and saloon installations where the switch stays away from spray and washdown.

Variants
This product is offered in four configurations that change by supply voltage and front color.
The listed variants share the same flush-mounted format, IP40 rating, screwed terminal connection, load compatibility, and housing size. What changes between them is the mains version, either 120 V or 230 V, and the visible finish, either Gray or Ivory.
- VM16559.1.120.B: Color Ivory, Voltage 120V. This version matches 120 V 60 Hz circuits and an Ivory face that blends into lighter switch areas.
- VM16559.1.B: Color Ivory, Voltage 230V. This version matches 230 V 50 Hz circuits and keeps the same lighter finish for a consistent look across the switch area.
- VM16559.1.120: Color Gray, Voltage 120V. This version matches 120 V 60 Hz circuits and a Gray face that works with darker switch layouts.
- VM16559.1: Color Gray, Voltage 230V. This version matches 230 V 50 Hz circuits and keeps the Gray finish when the rest of the switch area is already in that color.
Installation and fit
This dimmer is built for flush mounting with click-in fixing, so fit depends on having the matching mounting support and enough depth behind the panel for a 52.1 mm body. It is intended for push-button control and is not meant to work with movement sensors, presence indicators, timers, transmission buttons, or infrared buttons.
On a boat, that makes it a practical choice for interior lighting circuits in a cabin, passageway, head, or saloon where you want adjustable light without moving to a larger control unit. It is better suited to areas that stay dry and sheltered than to exposed helm, cockpit, or deck positions.

Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
