Overview
The Vimar Idea is a modular RJ11 phone socket outlet for flush-mounted voice or telecom points, using a 6-position 4-conductor (6/4) connection with screw terminals. It takes 1 module in the Idea range, carries an IP20 rating, and measures 24.8 mm wide by 43.4 mm deep, so it is intended for protected interior spaces rather than exposed deck or washdown areas.
The insert is made from halogen-free thermoplastic with a matt finish and clamp mounting. It is a practical fit for refits or replacements where the vessel already uses Vimar Idea modular hardware and needs a matching telephone outlet in a cabin, saloon, office space, or other dry onboard area.
Key features
- RJ11 phone socket with 6-position 4-conductor (6/4) format for fixed telephone or telecom line terminations.
- Screw-terminal connection for straightforward wiring and later service access.
- 1-module insert sized for the Vimar Idea modular system.
- Flush-mounted format with clamp mounting for a clean finish in interior panels or bulkheads.
- IP20-rated front for sheltered indoor locations where the outlet is kept away from spray and washdowns.
- Halogen-free thermoplastic body with a matt surface.
Variants
This product is offered in two color configurations within the same phone outlet format.
The visible finish changes between the variants. The RJ11 6/4 connection, screw-terminal wiring, 1-module layout, flush-mounted format, and IP20 rating stay the same across both versions.
- VM16335.B: Color Ivory. The lighter face works well where the existing switch layout or cabin trim already uses cream or off-white inserts.
- VM16335: Color Gray. The darker face is the better match for panels already fitted with gray Idea devices.
Compatibility and fit
Before ordering, check that the vessel is already set up for the Vimar Idea series and that the opening, support, and cover layout are meant for a 1-module flush insert. This outlet is classed for UAE/IAE applications and is built around an RJ11 telephone connection, so it is meant for voice or similar low-voltage telecom points rather than an exterior connector or a sealed marine socket.
Installation and use on board
Because the unit is IP20 and has no protective lid, it belongs in dry interior spaces such as cabins, saloons, or enclosed helm and admin areas. It is less suited to open cockpits, exterior bulkheads, or any place that sees salt spray, washdowns, or heavy dust. The screw terminals make it easier to terminate conductors neatly during a refit or when replacing an older insert in the same modular family.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
