Overview
The Vimar Idea is a USB socket outlet for the Idea modular wiring range, built as a 1-module insert with screw terminals and a flush-mounted body. It measures 24.80 x 50.10 x 41.30 mm, has IP20 protection, and uses a halogen-free thermoplastic housing with a matt finish.
This insert is meant for protected interior installations where you want a clean USB connection point within a Vimar Idea frame or panel layout. On board, that usually means cabin spaces, a chart table, or a helm area that stays out of direct spray. The built-in strain relief also helps keep the cable connection more stable where vibration is part of normal use.
Key features
- 1-module insert for Vimar Idea modular installations
- Screw-terminal connection for fixed wiring
- Flush-mounted format with a 24.80 x 50.10 x 41.30 mm body
- IP20-rated front for dry, protected interior locations
- Halogen-free thermoplastic construction with matt surface finish
- Built-in strain relief at the terminal side
Variants
This product is available in two color configurations.
Across both versions, the format stays the same: 1-module Idea insert, screw terminals, flush mounting, IP20 protection, and the same overall dimensions. The difference between the variants is the visible front color.
- VM16368.B, Color Ivory. This lighter finish works well with pale trim pieces and lighter interior switch layouts.
- VM16368, Color Gray. This darker finish sits more naturally with gray plates, darker panels, or interiors with a more muted look.
Compatibility and fit
This insert is intended for Vimar Idea modular device arrangements and occupies one module. It suits boats and refits that already use the Idea series and want to keep the same look and module format across the electrical panel or cabin switching points.
Before ordering, check the series on the existing frame and confirm that the installation point is a protected indoor location. This is not the right choice for exposed exterior panels or any mounting position that sees regular washdown or open-weather use.
Installation and onboard use
The flush-mounted body is better suited to enclosed consoles, cabin walls, and other finished surfaces where a modular switch insert is the right format. Screw terminals make more sense where the wiring is fixed in place, and the compact body helps when space behind the plate is limited but still needs to be checked against the available depth.
Shipping
We ship worldwide from the United States. Rates are calculated at checkout based on destination and package weight. Some items include free shipping, which will show automatically. Not every product is eligible for international shipping; checkout will confirm eligibility. We do not ship to PO Boxes except through USPS, and not all packages qualify.
Processing and dispatch
Most orders are verified, packed, and handed to the carrier within 1 to 2 business days. Some products may need extra handling time or ship directly from the manufacturer. For certain international orders, inventory transfers between warehouses may add time. If any delay is expected, we will let you know the dispatch date.
Delivery and tracking
Deliveries are handled by trusted carriers such as USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL. Estimated arrival times appear at checkout and depend on your location and the service you choose. These are estimates and can be affected by customs or carrier disruptions. A shipping confirmation with a tracking link is emailed when your order ships, and tracking may take up to 24 hours to update. You can also view tracking in your account.
Duties, taxes, and support
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, and fees charged by the destination country. If these charges are refused and a shipment returns to us, the carrier’s return cost and any re-entry customs fees will be deducted from the refund. If your order is late or you need help, contact cs@qualityboatparts.com and we will assist you.
Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.
Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team. When available, the warranty period is listed on the product page. If it is not shown, contact us or the manufacturer for details before purchasing.
To start a claim, the customer must contact the manufacturer and follow their process. Keep your proof of purchase and original packaging, and register the product if the manufacturer requires it, as these are often needed for warranty service.
We are happy to help you find the right contact or documentation, but we cannot decide outcomes or intervene in claim resolutions. For guidance, email cs@qualityboatparts.com.
