Overview

The Garmin 010-11979-00 is an adapter cable that connects a MotorGuide trolling motor transducer to a compatible Garmin fishfinder or chartplotter that uses a 4-pin transducer port. It is used when your transducer is mounted in or on the trolling motor and you want that sonar feed to appear on the Garmin display without cutting or splicing wiring.

This cable is the correct fit for Garmin units that use the 4-pin transducer connector, including families such as echo, ECHOMAP CHIRP 4x and 5x, ECHOMAP Plus 4x and 6x, ECHOMAP UHD 6x, STRIKER, STRIKER Plus, and STRIKER Vivid. On the trolling motor side, it mates to MotorGuide setups that use the MotorGuide transducer connection commonly found on sonar-equipped models.

Key features
  • Connects a MotorGuide trolling motor transducer to a Garmin 4-pin transducer port
  • Supports Garmin fishfinders and chartplotters that use the 4-pin transducer connector
  • Useful for keeping sonar on the trolling motor transducer while running a Garmin display at the console or bow
  • Adapter-style cable for a clean install without modifying factory plugs
  • Commonly used with sonar-equipped MotorGuide trolling motors such as Tour, Wireless Sonar, and Xi5 configurations that use the MotorGuide transducer connection
Compatibility and fit

Match the connector on the back of your Garmin unit before ordering. This adapter is for Garmin devices with a 4-pin transducer port, not 8-pin or 12-pin transducer ports. On the MotorGuide side, confirm that your trolling motor transducer lead uses the MotorGuide plug style intended for fishfinder integration.

If your boat has both a transom transducer and a trolling motor transducer, this adapter is typically used to bring the trolling motor transducer into the Garmin unit when you are fishing from the bow and want the sonar to track with the motor direction.

Installation and setup

Installation is straightforward: connect the MotorGuide transducer lead to the adapter, then connect the Garmin end to the unit’s 4-pin transducer port. Route the cable so it will not be pinched during stow and deploy, and leave enough slack for steering movement at the trolling motor head.

For clean sonar performance, keep the transducer cable run separated from high-current trolling motor power wiring when possible. Secure the cable with gentle strain relief and allow a drip loop near connections to reduce water migration into plugs during spray and washdowns.

Use on board

This adapter is a good match for anglers running a Garmin display at the bow and a MotorGuide trolling motor with an integrated or trolling-motor-mounted transducer. It is also helpful on smaller fishing boats where you want to keep the install tidy and avoid changing out transducers just to match connector styles.

Quality Boat Parts is a reseller. Many items include a manufacturer’s warranty, and all warranty service is handled directly by the manufacturer. We do not manage or administer warranty claims on behalf of customers.

Warranty terms, coverage, and duration are set by each manufacturer. Issues involving defects, repairs, or replacements must be addressed with the manufacturer’s support team.
